If you want a really fine running main gear on your BCP/Pro with removable hub, try the new one from Heli Direct. It is the white one. Absolutely perfect with no wobble and no eccentrics to this one. It is pricey but worth the $. The bearing actually grips the shaft so no grub screws to get loose. You need an extra collar on shaft at the bottom is all for installation and that fits right where the shaft is grooved. I am very impressed with this new unit. Check it out!

have you tried to auto it? :D

My fat CP (400+)? Never happen! It's just nice not to have to split the difference on the gear mesh and be able to use the HDX 300 main shaft full length without reworking it. It's also exactly the width of an E-Flite Pinions length.

i wonder if there's ANYONE out there that can auto a blade

no problem, as long as its not more than 18" high

18"! :WOW That would be a challenge for my "Fatso". :lolol

would the higher the better though? the higher you go, the more time you'll have for negative pitch and the wind to push the blades, making it spin faster and have more initial force?

IN full scale there is a BAD area where you are too high and too low. YOu can auto from a hover low or you can auoto from a hover high. But in between, no dice.

Forward speed also impacts, the dead man's curve looks like a traiangle witha curved side. The point is at 0 airspeed about 5 - 10 feet high, the flat top is about 300 - 400 feet and goes from 0 airspeed to about 40 knots os so.

There is another area at higher speed, but too low that you can't auto from.

I checked it out on Helidirect. 30$ bucks wow. What main shaft do you use with it.

And yes, which main shaft did you use?

HDX 300 main shaft. This gear hub requires a 3mm collar on bottom to keep on shaft as the one way bearing floats on and grips shaft directly. Yes it is pricey but it is definately worth the $ and runs absolutely true with no egg shape or wobble. Yes that is the one, Micro Heli from Heli Direct. Mind you, I have not flown this unit extensively so the durability of this new hub and one way remains to be seen. So far, excellent results! :dontknow

I'm thinking about getting this mod but, is this mod easy to install or does require some surgery to get it in.

And, has anyone elses tried this mod too. Anyone crash it yet?

Depends on your set-up. If you are stock now, yes, it will take more head scratch'n to install. I was using the HDX300 CNC head and shaft prior to this installation so it was merely a gear and hub swap plus one additional 3mm collar for the bottom of shaft. If you are stock with stock plastic head, shaft and gear, it is a bit more involved than that as the HDX shaft is longer and the shear pin hole is located in the wrong spot to properly attach plastic head. (I just drilled new hole in plastic hub for shear pin so hub fits properly on shaft on a friends heli) Swash to servo pushrods lengths will increase too and , of course, check and adjust the gear backlash. That's about it!

YOu could always just push the shaft down a bit and have some stick out the bottom collar.

Yeah, grind a flat on bottom too. Then pushrods are not an issue, but! I think I went with this because there are more grooves machined into this shaft and if you drop it down, one of the grooves is right in the middle of a shaft bearing. Using the bottom groove positions the other grooves so they are not in main frame bearings. (head sets a bit higher though)

It just occured to me though, if you want to go with a plastic head, a Honey Bee shaft would be a better bet than the HDX. It's a little longer than stock (room for collar), the hole is drilled in the right place and no grooves. Probably a drop in for this gear!

Has Anyone tried the Century main gear mod. I heard it has a few less teeth than the stock gear. Is that true. Anyone know?

Thanks, Steve! Looks good but, out of stock already? Another thing I miss are the 8$ flat bottom blades (out of stock). Have they been discontinued?
