Crashed my 450 pro into the back of my head! lol

well all i can say is when your medication says don't handle heavy machinery i guess that goes for helis as well... took my 450 pro out and it got behind me so my thinking ohh o don't have to look where it it to get it back just give collective up and then cyclic forward..., well my fat head broke both the blades bent the main shaft at liek a 45 degree angle and also stripped a set of hs65-mg keep in mind this was all cause i Ramed myself hard in the back of the head with this heli :...: so i noticed i broke off one the the pins that comes from the head block...so i fixed it all up and just flew it now with the one head prong missing..do you think its ok to fly with only the one guild?

nah i was safe kinda i was in only normal mode and hs was way low i just got a 6 inch circle bump on the back left side of my head...oh it did hurt but not as much as you would think no blood was drawn i was surprised yje CF blades broke right in half when they hit my head i thought they would of sliced me up but i lucked out

Ok, you need to learn something before you seriously hurt yourself or someone else.
No, it is not safe. At all. And you need to lose this attitude and seriously consider the implications of what did happen and what the outcomes could have been before you even get behind another Tx.
Just because it wasn't in IU does not mean it doesn't have the ability to maim you.
This is not having a go, but I see many motorcycle riders (another passion of mine) who will blame everything except themselves in a crash. They don't learn and then crash again in the same circumstances.
Please, for the love of God, RC modelling is a dangerous pass time and AT NO TIME AT ALL is a 450 size heli to the back of the head considered either safe, or something to be taken as lightly as you are appearing to do.

getting hit was a 450 is no big deal(owe it will Hurt) only way you can really get hurt would be a hit right in the face then you have a chance of going blind but when someone gets hit in the leg are and even my case the back of the head its not gotta kill you..its gunna embarrass and hurt your ego at most .so please don't turn this light hearted thread into anything other that it is. Sh*T happens so i posted my Sh*t and i learned from it

Sure glad it wasn't worse. What if it had been a bigger heli? Major ouch.

Am noticing some meds ads are using the term "dangerous equipment" rather than heavy machinery. Definitely applies to helis. My rule of thumb is if I wouldn't do someting with a beer in me, I won't do it with cold (or other similar) meds.

There is no way I would think thats not a big deal. I remember when I had an Axe Cp, and the thing spooled up on me by accident. It struck me in the hand, which hurt extremely bad. My hand actually swelled some from being struck by that little heli. It may be a small heli, but those blades spin at incredible speeds and can do some serious damage.

Hind site is 20/20, but if you ever loose site of your heli, please just hit throttle hold. A small child at the park could sneak up behind you to watch, and crossing the flight line along with loosing visual contact of the heli is extremely dangerous.

Your other helis in your signature scare me deeply. Please think of others that may be around you and do all you can to protect them.

Sorry about the incident. Glad you're weren't seriously hurt and really hope you learned something from it.

I've replaced the guide pins on a 500 using the tail shaft from a 250. The 450's are smaller. I sheared both of them off on a V3 head and just spent the money on a replacement. The 450 is smaller to work on and the angle to get at them is obstructed by the elongated feathering shaft.

I commend you for sharing your moment of brilliance and for your perseverence.

One other thing: Good, functional parts are on the heli for a reason. Don't fly it with it missing the guide pin. Skimping on repairs and trying to get one more flight out of that notched set of bearings almost always leads to more expensive repairs.

1. Flying while impaired.
2. Flying your heli behind you and not maintaining a visual on it.
3. Try to save the heli without having a visual on it.
4. Flying the heli without repairing all the damage.
5. Thinking this incident is no big deal.

You said you learned from it. What did you learn?

+1 well what im gunna do is just goes balls out trying some new moves on the Pro due to its current state knowing im gunna crash it but that crash will teach me something at least...then ill replace the head block with the new pins and every thing else i will break and just start all over from there

I'm calling BS on this whole deal! No way a spinning CF blade on a 450 Pro, no matter if it was in IU or normal mode, hitting him in the melon wouldn't do major damage. Well, on second thought, given the cavalier nature with which he describes being hit by one, maybe he's suffered some kind of brain damage. :thumbup:

Note to any newbies watching: It's not OK to be hit, or to hit someone else with an RC Heli of ANY kind!!!
