The engine stutters @ hover. I leaned, richened the mid range without any success. Top and bottom are fine. What am I doing wrong? What are the right needle setting for this engine with OMI? thanks

I called James. Left a massage no reply. Noone here seems to have the time to advice. It's frustrating. This engine is driving me crazy.
Pretty hard to help as you've not given much to go on...
What is a stutter at hover? It nearly flames out but does not? It's four stroking?
I really suspect you need hands on assistance at the field
What fuel, exhaust and plug
The mid needle is a fine tuning needle only,
the main needle is still dominate
(which makes me wonder what is going on when you say the top is fine)
Many people running a SZ Cline have the mid needle closed,
at which point all tuning is done via the main needle
Are you working the right needles?
In case you have a YS history,
the OS needles are big for main and smaller for mid
(the YS is the other way around)
Do you have the check valve in the line from the back plate to the fuel tank?
Is it the right way around?
Is the tank sealed (no open vent)?

Will after reading lots of threads, I propabely suspect the YS check valve to be an essue. It seems that I have to remove the spring from it.
I am not rich in michanical termenology, but I can tell you this. The engine idles fine. At climbout it sounds fine. WHen bringing it to hover, the engine starts to almost quit then kicks back on in 2 to 3 seconds intervales. Thats the best I can describe it. Sorry for the lack of words.

I use the Cline check valve that OMI sends with the Cline'd carb when he returns them. I even used the Cline check valve when I was still using YS engines. That check is one of most simple and durable ones I am used. Just push it in the fuel line just enough for the line to attach to the nipple on the back plate.
