Just building my new 250 (weeee!), and have noticed that the pinion is VERY loose on the motor shaft.
I've glued it with the R48, but is it usually this loose a fit?

Yes just use the glue/epoxy or whatever that stuff is..and let it sit for awhile, to make sure it is completely dry.. mine has not come off or came lose yet..

Yeah, it looks to have stuck fast now. I still have a few more hours of build time left.

I had my pinion come off for the first time on the weekend. I flipped too low and ended up in the long grass. No damage at all to the heli but the pinion was moved to the top of the shaft. Probably saved the maingear and shafts as I was slow with the throttle hold. I picked up some scorpion gears that use a grubscrew as I prefer to not have a metal to metal glue joint keeping my heli in the air, even if it is working as a fuse at the moment.
It was the first crash I have had with the 250, but as there was no damage was it really a crash. :) I guess as I couldn't fly again until I re-attach the pinion it was.

My first pinion of SE was very loose fitting and went by, by in my first crash. The replacment pinion was very snug so I don't think it's coming off.

Yeah, I green loc-tited the Scorpion pinion, let it dry, then blue on the set screws.

Seems to be holding fine.

I just filed a small flat on the shaft and used blue loctite on the screw, don't need the green if you do that.
It held well enough for me to do my first indoor flip (double basketball court) on Sunday night. :YeaBaby:

Mine's allegedly a press fit though, no set screw.

I used red loctite on my press fit pinion. Holding up great.
