Smashed 9256

Having thoroughly buggered my 9256 today in a boomstrike, I'd like to know, is the 9251 case compatible? Are there any other gearsets I can use that will work assuming I still have the metal gear from the 9256? Will any other case tops work, assuming the alumite bottom case still to be intact?

And finally, has anybody sent a 9256 to Hobby Services, and if so, how much did it end up being? Am I just better off buying a new one?

Probably better off buying a new one if damage is severe.
The 9251 top will work with the 9256. I would think the case of the 9251 is the same also as the 9256.

You can use the top from a 9254. One of the guys at our field had the same problem and did not want to spend $50 on a case.
