New Tail Box boom clamp

Here is the new style clamp that will come with the new open gear style tail box when it is released. I wanted to try the clamp with the current style metal gear box, so MA sent me a couple to mount.
The clamp was easy to mount and the gear box is secure on the boom. Only had to do two modifications to get the clamp mounted to current metal gear box.
1 Had to drill a hole in the side of the boom that the fin is mounted. This is to allow a 3 mm bolt to go thru the clamp and the boom and screw into the side of the metal gear box.

2 Since the current metal gear box only has three mounting lugs. Had to drill a 2.5 mm hole in the plastic on the clamp to put a screw to hold one of the lugs. The other two lugs are held in place with 3mm bolts and lock nuts.


This is pictures with the clamp installed on a Tempest FAI with the tail rotor on the right side of the heli.

Looks nice! Is there a set release date on that new MA tail box?

The new open gear box should be out soon. These hurricanes that keep passing thru central Florida every couple of weeks are screwing up time schedules for releases. MA was shut down Tuesday as they started preparing for the storm. Will take them a couple of days to get back to normal after the storm passes.

The new clamp works well with the current metal gear box.

Those Hurricanes are screwing up a lot of things including people who live there in FLA. They had just gotten back to Business as usual the first of this week, and now they are back in limbo again. :DOH

well look at it this way....at least the storm is loosing strength and its down from 145mph to 115mph. But like u said its screwing with alot of people and businesses, hopefully this will move through and dissipate quickly
