I was reading the posts lately, seems theres some doubt if the 9650 is enough. So they got tested today.
Check the Christmas greeting thread from Rotorworks and FP.
Will hte 9650's work in the stock frame as well? I will buy them instead of the pricer servos and then upgrade to this frame.

I have also been Eyeing these as they do have metal gears and a little more torque over 9650's plus a little cheaper cheaper

I will need to find plastic servo discs for them as I want to make similar adjustable servo arms as with the 9650's
yes, those look nice too, especially for the price. They are metal geared and come with a metal arm. But will they fit in the stock frame as I can't buy the heli, plus the rotorworkz frame all at once or I will be living in my heli :)

HS-5245 is deeper then the 9650, on the Logo's they are used but you need spacer's to get them away from the main shaft.
How much space have you on the Rotorworkz solution?

9650's and similar high torque mini servos are PLENTY strong enough. The MA Razors in all the vids up to date have been flying with Futaba or JR mini servos and they have been thrashing the hell out of them for months. The Logo 10/14's also fly with tremendous authority with mini servos.

I let a couple of my friends try out the 9650's yesterday. One experienced ex-factory pilot flew very big sky, he was impressed. "How much you want for this thing?" he says less than a minute into the flight.
The second pilot who flew it had 3 packs on it. The 3rd is the video I posted.
He stopped it very close to the ground, then said to me, it stops where I wanted it to stop. So apparently they do work. He commented on how well the machine and setup felt.
I know some have their doubts, I hope this video helped put those to rest.
Well my packs are all charged up, time to go fly. Merry Christmas !

I use them on my L14 with vstabi (higher load on the servo then normal) with 600mm, they take it without a hinch

They worked fine with 600 and 720mm blades on the MA Razors....yes I did say 720mm blades. They did fly a 720mm stretched Razor with mini servos.

It actually had 710 and 700's on it V-Blades don't come in 720 I don't think.

Can the 9650s be made to work in the stock frames?
Thanks,
Lee
Thats what I was asking. apparently the servos are too small, but maybe someone has adapters to make it work?

Nice pics Matt. How does having the motor up affect the roll rate? Can you tell any difference getting that mass up so high and tight?

It rolls quick. I watched Bob fly it when we met up. He flies much bigger than I do, on one fast pass he flipped the stick over and it looked like a top spinning horizontally.
It rolls nice. I changed some stuff around this weekend, got things adjusted better to suit my flying style. I'm guessing I have close to 25-30 flights on it now, I just cant put it down.
This lighter setup is really fun to fly. 6 minutes of smooth 3D and at 80% of the 3700's. NICE !

Yes it rolls really fast and what is really good is when I did those consecutive rolls down the field the motor didnt bog at all. On my stock Trex if I hold it over like that it bogs a little. Flips are about the same as stock based on what I could feel.
Honestly this thing was a little pocket rocket! Really a fun heli and is different enough to a stock 600 that I want one :)
Also make me wonder how it will do on 6S with stock motor :dontknow

How much room is in the bottom part of the frame if a person wanted to slide a pack between the frame halves?
If the pack gets placed there will it throw off the cg?

There is just enough room for a FP 3700 10s stick pack. You wil need to move the pack forward onto the battery try. It will CG just fine.
You can also stack 2 5s 3700's.

You could probably make the 9650's work in the stock frames. All you would have to do is make a smaller servo mount plate for the 9650 to mount in the normal servo mount position. You could use hobby plywood or CF sheeting to do it. Then, just mount up your servos as normal.
That way, at least, you could keep the same push-pull linkage as stock.
Just get out your modeling skills, patience, and it should not be to difficult.
We will think about trying that here and giving it a whirl. If we do, we will post pics.

So in this frame you can use the 10s pack or use the regular 6s on the front.

Yes
Do you have a measurement for the space between the frames?
