Canopy clearance

I have a Raptor 50 with the Curtis muscle pipe. With this muffler, some material has to be trimmed away from the canopy in order to fit. I have a fiberglass canopy on the way. How close can I get the canopy to the muffler and not have any problem with paint bubbling and such?

I'd give it around 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the closest point.
