I was a lot less than impressed withthe Super Brain 959, it is still laying around ehre, I have used it only a few times and it is not a great charger at all.

I see, what are other chargers doing better ? Is the fan loud (charger and AC part) ? Thanks

Why do you say you are dissatisfied? I have one, but have so far only cycled/charged a Makita NiMh battery. I plan to get a couple of LiPo cells for my Trex, should I be thinking of getting a new charger as well? I will have to admit the Super Brain isn't the easiest charger in the world to use, but is that the biggest or only reason for dissatifaction? I just want to make sure it will charge LiPos safely and to full capacity in a consistant manner. Thanks

I thought it was to hard to use easily. I was charging a mix of nicd nimh and lead. I have greatly simplified my charging to Li-po only now and if you need to charge a bunch of different stuff the brain may work for you. It was to big and bulky, to much cord and power supply and I did not like the programming. No big deal.

now I seeked the internet extensively, the 989 seems to be not the right one I think, several people say - especially for Lipos. What do you guys think about the new hyperion 1210i ?

yes, MRC can't figure out how to charge a LIPO, I use a mrc 977. Its okay for nicad, NMH but is not great for LIPO, it will overcharge them a bit each time. For the money you are spending, the 989 is a waste. I use an fma balancepro 6s, it is nice. The hyperion charge looks nice and the thunderpower combo is nice.

I don't know if it is the same as the 977. But, based on the 977 I would stay away from the company. I second that they don't know how to charge LiPo's. To get into the lipo mode you have to hook it up and press buttons in the proper sequence until it says Lipo. If you don't I don't know what mode it is in (it doesn't tell you) but it will way overcharge you batteries. I had trouble with it in conjunction a Hyperion balance. I think because the balance is smarter than the charger. I am stuck with it. Get something that gives you a lot of feed back (tells you what it is doing) preferably all at once without pressing a lot of buttons and a display big enough to do that. Things like amps charge rate, mah, volts, mode, etc. That is one of the nice things about the TP 1010 and 210 combo.
