To all you 90E cyberhead folks using a mini v-bar v5 are you using the free express software or are there benefits to ponying up for the pro software?
I also own a regular sized v-bar v4 which is currently not in use - would it be better to use that on the Srimok than the mini v5? If so, with or without upgrading to v5?
Also to minimize the # of new threads - what kind of lubrication do you put in the tail gear box - looking for specific brands if possible, and would scorpion motor bearing oil work in there?
I finally started building mine (now that it's 1/2 done I'm upset I procrastinated for so long), can't wait to get it in the air but want everything to be just so - lots of $$ at stake!
Thanks,
Chris

I'd use that V-bar that you have and upgrade to v 5.0 (if it's not the silver sensor one which is non-upgradeable). V5 is so much better setting up than V4.
Tail gear lubrification, use either the tiny canister that came in the kit or use a bearing type grease (lithium base) - it can take the heat.

Hi,
Not to highjack your thread, but would you mind measuring the width of that 120T main gear? I'm a scratch builder and am always looking for gearing options. The gear I'm using now is from Robbe, it's 120 T and is 13.3mm wide. The Kasama gear looks wider.
Thanks a bunch,
Ben

Use that existing vbar, just upgrade it to v5.
I fly mine with a Mini VBar (blueline) there is no benefit really except perhaps neater wiring, easy to get vibrations into it though, I might even change to a fullsize on mine.
I can post my VBar setup file for v5 on my site next few days, it flies perfectly.

That would be amazing Mr. Mel! I'll go ahead and upgrade my full-size to v5. Thanks!

Here is my current setup, using a Mini mounted upright with the cables towards the rear.
My setup are as follows.
Mini VBar Blueline with spektrum satellites
HK4035-500
Jive 80HV
3 x BLS451
1 x BLS251
File normalized a bit, I run higher Agility and Yaw rate in reality.

Thanks Mr. Mel - can't wait to try 'em out.

Fredrick - do you still want me to send you those experimental "link balls" to try out?

Will do!

MrMel,
What % of your throttle are you running? Is 80% seem too high?

Depends on the motors, I measure the real KV which can differs a bit
I run Idle 1 at 1950HS as my target, with a idle-up2 at around 2050, my motor is 495kv, so that will require about 72% at idle 1 and 80ish on idle2
Performance is good still, and you get the flight time in return.
Do note, that if you run a Jive you need adjust the ATV to get full resolution, else running 80+% = full throttle.
Thank you MrMel,
I am new in electric heli, no knowledge at all. I am using Pyro 700-52L. I am just sold my tachometer because I though that I am not going into electric. What do you think of the % I should run with my 700-52L.

X

If you follow this guide for programming the Jive;
http://heli.dacsa.net/MrMelSite/JiveJazzprogramming.htm
Then I would run around 63% for Idle 1 and 72% or so for idle 2 with that motor.
(2000HS and 2100HS)
Kasama coming out with a 11T, so if you want max flighttime, you can try putting on a 11T and run 75-80% for 1950HS, I will try that combo as soon as the pinion comes out with the 700-52L

Just wanted to thank you again Mr. Mel - I got my Faifa in the air this weekend - I've flown a T-Rex 700E before but for some reason this bird intimidated the hell out of me - I'm hoping the nerves will calm down a bit once I get more stick time with it, but it had a wonderful feel to it using your VBar file.
