View Full Version : Mix: Off/Inh in Throttle Setup Screen?

I just crashed my Joker, because the throttle would shut off everytime I pulled the stick below the half point in idle up one. I couldn't get my heli to come down and instead soared high into the air.

In the Futaba 9CHP throttle setup screen, when programming idle up one or two, there is an option for mix off or inh. Now what is the difference between off and inhibited???? What is it mixing?

Can someone please explain this?

Thanks,
Mike

Did you have a V curve set up in the idle up curves? Or did you leave the defaulted throttle curves in the idle ups?

The option for the mix off or inhibited is referring to where the throttle to rudder mix would be engaged. You would be turning the mix off or on according to stick position. Should not affect how the throttle operates no matter how it is set.
Also the mix option on the throttle stick is another way to turn off or on any programmable mix. For example if you had an aileron to elevator mix and wanted to turn it off or on at a certain throttle stick position, this feature can be used.

David,
This may be my 8U brain talking, but isn't Mix just the indicator of having the pre-mixed ID1 or ID2 engaged?
I don't know 9C's well so I could be thinking of the "old" technology. :D
I have enough to wrap my mind around with the 9Z. :D

Mike,
All your ID1 and ID2 curves should be a V or U shaped curve. I would bet your ID1 curve is not a V but looks more like a /.

Take Greg (gypros) up on the offer of helping you setup that ship. It is too expensive (as you found out) to mess with learning to program the hard way. :D

By default idle-ups are disabled or inhibited abbreviated "inh". In order for an idle-up to be enabled the "inh" must be selected and changed to either "on" or "off". Whether the "inh" will change to "on" or "off" will depend on the position of the idle-up switch when the change is made. You correctly set your throttle curve but since the idle-up mix was disabled (inh) it had no effect and your throttle curve reverted to the normal curve. I'm sorry you crashed but a careful reading of the manual or a proper check of your curves before flight would have prevented it.

Bob,
I forgot about having to activate the idle ups. I got sidetracked when he mentioned Pmix. But I think your correct, he has not turned on the idle ups and they are still inhibited.
Jason ,
Yes I believe now that mix is referring to have the idle up activated. I had forgot that it has to be turned on in the program.

Soon as my heli is repaired I'll be taking Greg up on his offer. Will bring my Logo 14 with too as the setup should be the same as the Joker.

I would assume that mix means the radio is mixing the throttle curve with the pitch curve, but whenever I came to that function in the setup screen, it never shows 'on'. I now realize that it will show on when the idle up switch is flipped.

By the way, my throttle curve is a line straight across. I am using a governor.

Whoever said you have to crash first before you can get better? I want to flog him!

Thanks for your replies,
Mike

Mike,
Good deal. Both those helis are way too expensive to crash from preventable radio mistakes.
I am with you. I have a 9Z that I am trying to learn and my ION in NOT the ship to be experimenting with. :D

I would recommend you put a backup curve in there for your throttle.
This way if your governer quits you will notice a change in the throttle (gets to lagging more), but you will still have complete control of the heli and can finish your flight without incident. :D
I use simple V curves behind my governer at all times.
