Just got a chuckle when this show appeared on TV. The lead actor was watching the operator flying his helicam to create the "on-board dragon" scenes, and he said:-
"That's not work, he just gets to play with his toy all day! That is the neatest thing I ever saw!"

I think we all know what he meant! :)

Yes, what show was that? I'll have to make sure to watch it! Was the AP company Flying Cam?

The doco was called "Eragon - the Mythology and Magic of Eragon"
A special look at the making of Stefan Fangmeier's new action adventure movie "Eragon", starring Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich.

The heli looked like a Flying Cam one, with a large orange front-mounted camera ball and a rotor span of about 2 metres.

Unfortunately my on-line TV guide won't allow me to go back to the day it was on, but I think it was on one of our free to air channels (not cable/satellite). Having said that, the helicam scene was no more than 10 seconds, so I wouldn't put too much effort into tracking it down :)

Hi there,

hehe that's quite funny to read!
I was just browsing the forum when I saw this thread about eragon.
The funniest part is definitely the comment saying that this is "play all day"

:-)))))

cheers,

Remi

Remi,

That is an awsome shot!

Strapped in while flying so as not to fall off the cliff.

I take it that is you flying?

Is it for flyingcam?

Thanks,

Hi Scott,

thank you ;-)
yes this was for FC, I flew this shot in Slovakia in fall 2005.

This is another picture showing the director, S. Fangenmeier pretending to be the actors to spot the target position.

cheers,
Remi

Remi,

That is totally sweet! Is it turbine? Most importantly, what would a ship like that cost?

Again, totally awesome!

Hi Ziggy,

thanks, no this is a piston engine. Pricewise, this is big bucks but I don't know how much really..so many parameters involved.

regards,
Remi

Cool. Where would somebody get a camera setup like that? I know my little Raptor 50 can't handle it but I am just curious.

Thanks Remi!

hi Ziggy,

this is entirely custom made, so you can't just get it, you would have to build it.

Cheers,
Remi

The system is cool look at www.rcwhirlybird.com Craig Shepard also Bergen EB Observer. Chris Bergen. The whirlybird is a bout 16K with cams and test flown, school is three days with 1 meal a day. Craig he fly's allot of movies. the Bergen is less and you can check them out at http://www.bergenrc.com/ObserverEB.asp

Bergen has a twin 52cc and are coming out with a turbine also.

Both are very high end Helis and made in the usa for the AP business. The whirlybird in Texas and the Bergens here in Michigan.

Also check out something new Craig has invented www.bodyboom.net
