First flights today.
Just some gentle hovering and forward flight at the softball field on base.
Tomorrow is the real test.
Flew about 8 minutes and the packs took 3058mah (second charge on them/first discharge)so I figure I have 10 minutes of 3D in it with the new TP8000's.
Felt really good, but was "different" than my Fury. Will take a few flights to get the hang of the controls.
Motor was between 112 and 130 the whole time, but mostly in the 119 range.
Batts were at 90 :shock:
OAT was like 65 to start with so I am not putting any kind of a load on those new packs yet.

How about your T-hold curve?
Do you guys run it at 0% (to make the soft start engage if you bail out) or higher to keep the motor spooled up a bit?

Figure I will get with the NW ION guru's in a few weeks, but I would like to put a few cycles on these packs before then.

All in all I LOVE IT!
Can't wait to try the 60T gear and bring the headspeed down for some video work. :wink:

Also I charged them at 6 amps the second time. Is it ok to run them up to 8 amps for the next charge?

I'm running a 0% hold and hoping I never have to bail out. I've thought about running some adjustment off of one of the 9Z sliders so that I could test out my options, but haven't had a chance to try it.

If Doug has some CXD700s with him, you might want to try them out. They make an enormous difference with the autos. I have a set, but you might have to pry them from my cold dead hands first. :)

I am fighting an Idle up problem now.
I don't get ID1 on my 9z unless I have a curve that looks like this "/" a V or U puts the motor to idle when I hit the switch.
Do I have to run the V on the bottom instead you think?

Here is the first test of the onboard video with my Helicam solutions mount. My flying is crap, but the ION is Smooooth :D
Motor was at 133 after 3 minutes of flying with the mount and the packs were at 90. I don't know what I am doing, but it must be right. :D

I've flown about 5 flights with the CXD700s. I had two flights on the Ion w/ the 55T gear, two with an Extreme 70, and then another with the Ion and the 60T layshaft gear.

They feel very similar to the MAH690s I was using previously. Cyclics are crisp, and I didn't see any pitchiness in FFF. Two things I did notice were that I started to see some mast bump at lower headspeeds and they bark just a little bit. Oh, and did I say that they auto awesome?

Not sure what you're asking. It sounds like you're saying that the TX doesn't switch over to the IDLE2 condition? PM me offline and I'll try to help you out.

No it is going to be one of those that won't be fixed via online.
Something is amiss in the 9Z programming. I will sort it out though I am sure.

Soooo you have a 60T huh? I am waiting for mine from Craig.

How did it feel with that gear? What headspeed did you get?
If you are not using it anymore I will take it off your hands :D

Yeah, I have a 52T [from the kit], a spare 55T and the 60T in the bird. It seems like I'm getting speeds in the 17s, but I'm not really sure. I need to get my hands on a tack to tell.

If you want to try to figure out the radio problems, PM me and I'll give you my home number. We should be able to get it worked out in a jiffy. Either that, or I could send you my Cam-Pak.

I am going to start from scratch on it. I copied my Extreme model and I think that may be some of the problem.
I will hit you up for that CAMPAC at Brooks if I don't get it figured out by then, but I am going to be in School with Todd and Jason so I am sure those two can setup and ION. :D
