Made the move to the more robust tail drive setup that the 3D guys seem to be using.
I used the new anti-static tail drive pulley on one L14 and the standard on the other.
Will report back on how they fly.
Parts Used:
Mikado 3001 Main Gear
Mikado 3048 Anti-Static Tail Drive Pulley/Pinion
About an hour cause I'm slow. ;)

I plan on doing this mod too. Where did you get the anti-static tail drive pulley? Looked at ReadyHeli, ESprit models and FXAeromodel didn't have them, or did I miss them? :dontknow

It came from Esprit Model, they look out of stock right now. I got the standard one from ReadyHeli.

Flying Report!!
4 Flights, out back of work, and I cannot really tell the tail is slowed down. Still Piros fast as hell at 100% ATV on Rudder. Nice flying heli!! Need more packs.

Right on Will! Did you have to slot ahead your boom block slots? I had to , but my kits are much older than yours. Without doing it the mesh between the front pulley and bottom mod .7 gear was not tight enough and I almost had an ooopsie.
Yesterday setting my tails on my L14s as I am always experimenting when I can not fly much "winter" I had only 2 short flights less than 4 mins each as it was -5 ish out and what a blast, been over a month since I flown anything, it was exciting, I am jealous of you guys that get to fly right now!

On the machine I got from Jon, yes I did have to slot the frames forward more where the boom bracket screws go. On the European kit I did not have to do that and the mesh is fine. Interesting. Man I had fun with that machine today. Does a body good. Glad to hear you got out and exercised your packs and mind Shawn.
I LOVE flying this L14 machine. Anybody looking for a 600 for a good buy? ;)

Will... When I built your machine I had to elongate the slots so thats probably why you didnt have to :)

How much do you have to elongate the holes to compensate for the mod 0.7 tail pulley?
Thanks,
John

Approx 2.5-3.0 mm forward on each slot. Just make sure you have decent mesh.
