I thought I'd had all my 611 gyro issues sorted out and was ready to maiden my 600 and did a check of all the controls to make sure they were all doing what they were supposed to. For some reason, I have almost no right stick authority on the TR. It's like an endpoint has been set on the servo to prevent it from rotating clockwise (looking down on the servo's control horn) Servo is a Futaba 9256 BTW

Both A and B limits on the gyro are 101% and my servo arm length is about 13mm. This seem(ed) to work great with my mechanical setup with no binding/buzzing at the ends of the linkage's travel.

I removed the servo arm and cycled the TR linkage. Nice and smooth throughout the entire range of motion. All the gyro setup info in the radio (9CHP) appears to be unchanged from last week when I set it up initially. I don't see any ATV/Endpoint settings in the radio that might cause this..

I thought my centering was off so I set the gyro back to normal mode with 0 gain and sure enough, the servo arm is right at 90 deg. to the case. Shutting down the power to the electronics and gently cycling the servo by hand shows no binding in the servo itself.

This is my 1st 611 gyro so I'm not completely "comfortable" with the setup. I've re-read the 611 manual several times over the past couple hours and welp, I'm stuck..

I know I'm overlooking something simple, but I'll be darned if I can see it.. I thought Finless had a 611 setup video, but I can't seem to find one. I do have the 600 "gyro setup" video, but it deals with the TR servo and barely brushes the gyro itself.

Update: Nuked the gyro settings in the radio and started over. Got the travels all equaled out but now the servo stops moving before I run out of stick travel. If I feed in full right or left stick, the servo stops with about 1/4 of the stick travel remaining.. It's like only the middle 50% of the stick travel is being used. Endpoints on both rudder and gyro channels are 100/100.

I moved the ball link on the servo arm in one hole and got the A/B limits to 120% with no binding and the pitch slider is moving the entire length of the TR shaft but still have the problem.

Radio is set in GY mode off switch E (Same switch I use for idle ups)

UP NOR 35
CTR AVS 35
DWN AVS 35

Gyro cycles in and out of AVCS mode just fine.

Relax it is normal for the 611 to stop moving @ `50% stick throw. By the time you get to 50% stick on the ground the gyro is giving 100%. It is all related to the fact that the tail is not turning in the direction you are asking it to so the gyro does its best to try to make it happen. As long as it is using all the available travel it should be fine.

ok, I guess I'll pre-flight the beast and spool it up..

Thx!

Just make sure it isn't over traveling when you are in the end point screen. When you are in that screen the gyro itself is disabled and the rudder stick controls everything. When you are outside the end point screen it is totally normal for the tail to stop deflecting before it reaches the end points.

I set the control box in limit mode and held the stick over left/right and tweaked the A/B values until they were within 5 of each other, then started tweaking the linkage rod until I got both A/B limits equal with no binding.

Getting ready to toss the ship in the truck and head out to my little field.. Hopefully I'll come back with an intact heli and a big smile on my face.
