Found a use for my new digital camera. Spent about 30 min. making this mount and made first flight this morning...

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6255034878212295751

Google compresses the video quite a bit as the orginal 640x480 30 fps is a lot sharper.

Does anybody know a better way to show videos?

You own web server?

Pretty good for you first try.

Kevin,

That is awesome! I just did the very same thing with my new Trex 450 and the same camera as you have. But I'm new at this sport and I crashed it on my second run. I've rebuilt it already but will hold off on the video fun until my skills are up to it.

It's nice to see what can be done in the hands of a good pilot though!!

I tried the same with my 450 except I used a cheapy $20 cvs camcorder. Does that camera have image stabilization? My video came out all vibrated to hell, I see a double vision because of it. How did you solve the vibration issue?

Sweet. I wonder what a Super Collider would look like from an on-board view?

I also wondered if that was a full scale runway next to the field. It seems like the video has a funny wobble, is it from the heli or something in the mount?

As far as hosting, most freebie sites are going to down sample the video to reduce bandwidth, which degrades the quality. The only way I know to post high quality, hi-res videos is to get your own web site with unlimited bandwidth.

The mount I made is quite flimsy. The "funny wobble" is from both the wind and vib of the heli. There is no dampening; I just mount it to the bottom of the front skid. Version 2 will be better. :)

I like it a lot! Does anyone know of a ready to buy simple camera mount that can be used on the T-Rex 600 or do we have to build it ourselves?

Search for Askman, he has exactly what you need.

Thanks, Askman is great!
I checked the web for other ready made solutions but for starters I will make something myself.

Fireup: Could you post some more pics of your mount? I have a similar size camera and before inventing the wheel again it would be nice to see some more home made solutions........
