almost finished installation of the EVO50, just the gyro cable to RX (rudder and gain) is too short from rear top to the receiver box ... using g490T, did that happen to you as well (means go and buy extra cables) or you found a way ? Thanks !

Same happened with me with mine too, I just bought an extension lead for a couple of £ and that fixed the problem.
I have since moved my gyro into the front compartment and that way didn't have to use the extension cable as the gyro lead and the servo lead were long enough to meet without it (not sure how the gyro will be in the front now as not had the time or weather to test it yet, good old British weather :arggg: )

Oh thanks, I bought those cables too now - one for gyro and one for gain signal. This gyro position is somewhat still a bit mystery to me, from physics point of view it should not matter where you place it, but then some people swear it made a difference when putting it up behind the mast. Probably it has something to do with less electrical noise, especially with electric helis (motor, esc)... some gyros are better shielded than others.

I have two evo 50's both with 401 gyro's, one has longer wires on it from the fatory and the other the wires are a little shorter but they both reached my RX without Extensions.
There is nothing saying the gyro has to be in the rear of the heli either. I mounted min under the cabin.

I have destroyed a 601 control box and a complete 401 mounting them up front. We were also loosing servos much faster.
I just totaled and I mean totaled my EVO with the Gyro on the back and it is fine.
I was flying fast inverted backwards when it hit. That being said if my gyro was up front on this wreck it would have been fine as well.

I had to mount my 401 on a thin aluminum plate to get the chatter out of my 9254 servo. I have it mounted on the gyro plate by the boom. I just got it back together from a tail first crash from a bad 9253 servo and the gyro did not get hurt.
Destroying a 401 is, in my opinion, too easy. One littel bump and they get whacko. I piled my Evo in pretty good, and the gyro survived ok, being mounted in the front. I have hte CCPM setup, so it is mounted on top of where the collective servo would go on the normal setup. This may be the difference.
Also, FWIW, I have never liked rear mounted Gyros, simply because of the wiring, and the fuel gettingto them. This is whay i try and keep all my electronic bits under teh cabin, it is a bit cleaner, and easier ot keep wires neat.

Well your right about the fuel on the gyro.

so I used the gyro with the extension cables, because it's just too short (g500t or 490t), but had already two crashes (!!) with correct settings in TX, battery, everything ok, read on some threats (like number 987 on http://www.curtisyoungblood.com/faqs/search.php?category=Gyros) exactly same thing happens to mine ... but I don't think it's the cables, so I guess gonna send the gyro/servo to JR !
