well I bought a receiver for my DX6 and I ask the guy at the LHS for a spectrum AR6000 receiver. He said ya I got one so off I when all the way out the Fremont 70 miles away. I got home and started to put it in my Trex when I noticed it said BR6000.WTF I open the directions up and it said well here see for your self.

my question is will it work?
or did I buy the only DX6 receiver that will not work in a heli.
from what I can see it looks like it will work and if I forget and turn off the TX it can be programed to shut of the power to the motor.
if anyone knows if it will work or has this one please let me know.
I just hope it will work because there is no AR6000 within 100miles of me and I spent $60 on this dam thing plus gas and the longest ride of my life.
P.S. my wife is laughing at me for not making sure it was the right one. Looks like the dog house for me tonight. :arggg: :arggg: :arggg:

Gassless,

To me it looks like it will work. However, I'm not sure I like the failsafe operation it uses. On a heli, I'd much prefer it to hold the last valid position during a brief outage. PM kgfly. I think he's an expert on these things.

The BR6000 will work fine. As a matter of fact, most of those people who have advocated porting the DX6 innards to a more competent radio*** will insist, if you don't use a JR radio to put the guts into, that you should use the BR6000 since it allows failsafe settings on every channel. As an example, an AR6000 being used with a Hitec transmitter running DX6 innards will end up with weird failsafes:

Radio Make Ch1 Ch2 Ch3 Ch4
Futaba Aileron Elevator Throttle Rudder
JR Throttle Aileron Elevator Rudder

So the AR6000 would set your aileron to 0% (full left aileron), your elevator to 50%, and your throttle to 50%... not really what you want in a helicopter, as it will just keep doing the chicken dance on the ground until it's beaten itself to death or the battery gives out!

Anyway, the BR6000 is fine. Just make sure to set your failsafes on every channel; it's just a bit more work to set up.

***I don't think there will be very many people advocating this approach in a general sense anymore (cutting out the DX6 radio board and plonking it into another radio) since the release of the DX7. Rather than buying two radios to make one, you can just buy a very competent 7-channel radio.

thank you buddy I'll do that. I e-mailed the Specrum site on the contact us link and ask them.I to would rather it hold the last know position and this one moves everything to a preset position so I don't know if it would be good to use or not. Also kinda concerned if the range will be shorter as it is designed for Bots in might have a shorter range. I hope it will work or I willhave a long drive again tomarrow.

The BR6000 is identical to the AR6000 except in failsafe handling. Range and reception characteristics are the same.

If you don't like the failsafe handling, though, (I'd prefer the BR6000 failsafe handling for planks, but not for helis), by all means, return it!

thank you thank you thank you I can't tell you how much I aprectate you fast respounce. I was just answering spork when I checked and bingo there was your post. It's the only spectrum DX6 receiver within a 100 miles of my house and it took me 4 hours round trip to get it. Spork thank you for your time as well I'm looking forward to flying with you and Oscallator maybe even this weekend.

and I'll keep it the range was a concern the failsafe I can live with it only matters if I lost signal and if that happens it's going to beat the $hit out of my bird anyway.LOL :D

Thanks again buddy

hey jeff, If you want to sell your BR let me know.
I just bought an easystar and am finding it very hard to find any of these (BR might be easier though).

Jeff is JLR. I can't recall if he brought a kid with. Kris and Mark also bring kids sometimes.
