Hello

I've just got a 14mz for Xmas, and, since I've been to the mountain (for 2 days now bubbles appeared on the screen.
Do you know if I can do anything, or if I have to sent it back to the store ?

here's a picture

14MZ Radio System FAQ
I found there is an air bubble trapped inside the touch screen, seems like the touch screen is composed by two layers and the bubble is between those two. The air bubble even moves around the screen!! Touch functions and the display itself seem to be working properly. Is this situation normal or do I have to send my unit for a replacement?

This is perfectly normal and will not cause any problems, please refer to page 16 of your manual regarding the touch screen.

This is from the the Futaba 14MZ FAQ sight....

Hello there,
Mine has too, but it's not a deficiancy !!!

I came in an argue with my Futaba dealer as well the Robbe Futaba in Germany.

It's OK now, I got used to it

Happy New Year

That is not NORMAL!

If that would occur on my screen I would send it back for a refund! Nothing that cost that much money should have that come onto the screen. If that was normal then it should have been there from the beginning and I then wouldn't have bought it.

Don't make me want to switch to JR. I have been loyal to Futaba for
over 26 years!

Same thing happened to me when I went from sea level to about 1400 meters. When I returned the bubble was still there but went away after about 2 weeks.

According to people I trust that work for companies that make and or use these types of touch screens in other applications, this is normal. It bedevils them since it is annoying, but it is noraml and does not indicate a defect or interfere with the operations. It just looks bad.

Same thing happened to me.
I went from 450 meters up to about 2000 to do some slope flying.
Got one bubble, 5 hours after arrival.
It went 2 weeks after i came home. (placed the tx upright)

I called the local Futaba service station. The guy told me, he doesn`t think this is normal and he will call factory.
Then i got an answer back from him:
This is not normal. The touchscreen cold be installed the wrong way and it`s seal could be damaged because of this.
This is covered by warranty. I will get a new touchscreen installed, but can wait till the end of warranty time and catch up some more scratches till then.

hope this helps

I had the same thing, they do pretty much go away over time. I am only at 3K feet, (914 meters)

Here is another thread where the bubbles are discussed.
