View Full Version : DC port on the side of my TX?
there is a port on the right side of my E-Sky TX that says charge on it. can I use this to power my TX? if it is, can I use this with batteries installed, or should I remove them before plugging it in?

That is for charging rechargable type batteries in the transmitter only. Do not use it to charge standard alkaline type batteries.
You can not use it to power the transmitter.
this feature is not mentioned anywhere in my instruction manual, do you know what type rechargeables it will charge, and what voltage the DC converter should be?
would you know of a mod to to power the TX with a DC converter. it would save a lot of batteries considering I spend most of my time either on flight sims, or flying in my backyard where I can be close to a plug or extension cord.

That port will work with nicad or nimh type rechargable cells. If the manual does not tell the type you will need to find some cells and match them with a wall charger that will provide the proper ammount of current to them and not overcharge them. Best bet would be to get a set of energizer rechargables that come with the charger to use in the transmitter. You can get them at a reasonable price at wal-mart or the like.
You probably could modify that port to run the tx but it will involve a lot of work. The transmitters are designed to shut off when charging so you will need a way around that. Then you willl need a power supply that will supply the proper ammount of voltage and amperage and wire it in.
I suggest the rechargable battery route. Less expensive and a lot easier.
