Howdy,
I have flown many nitro chopers in the past. Sold all that stuff around 2001. I have had a few Concept 30's a 60 size Champion and a 60 size Millennium.
Since it has been about 10 years since I got out of the hobby, I decided to try these new fangled electric heli's out.
I would have concidered myself being a beginner at 3d flying back then, I was comfortable with all other types of normal flying including piros, loops, rolls, circuits, inverted flight and hover. Those skills have definately faded!!!!
I picked up a CPP2 and have flown about 10 packs out of it so far. I also ordered all the parts recommended for the brushless upgrade but that stuff has not been installed. I selected the CCP2 because it had everything I needed to get flying again. I did not have a 2.4TX and this was included for a great price.
Out of the box the heli hovered very well in both normal and idle up/stunt mode.
One question I have is with the tail jumping back and forth when hovering in a slight crosswind. What gives with that? I think the ESC is set correctly cuz I can bang full collective to it and the tail holds really well with no sideways jerk. In hover with no wind, the tail is rock solid. I can fly sideways + - 50ft pretty fast and the tail holds heading.
Where do you guys with the Eflite TX run the throttle trim knob? Seems to have no effect in normal mode but it really changes the head speed in idle up/stunt mode. I have mine set at around the 11oclock position. Anything else and it seems the head is really winding up and the collective gets really twitchy. What head speed do you guys run? Will the head loosen up some in regards to collective inputs after more run time? Seems this is worse with higher head speed.
I got a free set of carbon blades...Are these worth installing sooner rather than later or?
It seems this copter is really influenced by the wind. Is there anything I can do to minimize the issues the wind causes?
Next question is about the brushless upgrade...I ordered several different pinions and need to know which you would install if you were me? I have an 8,9,10.
How long a flight do most of you get out of the Eflight packs that the unit comes with with basic flying around and the occassional loop? I have been going around 5-6 minutes and with only three packs, this is a hurry up and wait kinda thing waiting on them to charge. I only have the one charger that the heli came with.
I would have went straight for the Blade 400 but all the horror stories of the servos on that unit turned me off. Last thing I wanted to do was pay that much for the heli and then have to spend a ton more on upgrading the servos and the electronics just to see if I liked electric helis.
Thanks for any advice in advance!

Wow,
Alot but all good questions.
1. turn that left throttle knob all the way up (right, test the helicopter and adjust down as you like) use small movements to the left untill your happy.
2. plugin the gain wire into ch 5(Gear), you can adjust the gain with the right knob,(To the right more gain tot left less gain) that wag you see in norm ft, thats the gyro set to high for norm ft. With the stock radio you will need to set that gain while in Stunt mode, you may see some wag in norm mode but with a stock radio you can't really adjust each mode. So make sure to set that gyro gain in stunt mode and not in normal mode.
3. Carbon main blades? You should hold off untill you dial your helicopter in before installing them. the wood stock ones work well.
4.Brushless upgrade: The Pro 2 really does not need it. it flys well out of the box with the stock motor. I installed the brushless upgrade and removed it. the stock motor works with alot of power. but if your going to install it go with the big pinon.
4.Eflight lipo packs : As soon as you can upgrade to a better lipo, do so. I use thunder power 3s 30c's thunder power 3s 45c, and SMC 3s 40c lipo's for it. Your going to find that the stock lipo's will get real hot and they don't last long when your doing some lite 3d. iget less than 2 minutes on a stock lipo, I get 4 to 5 minutes on the thunder power or the SMC with alot in the tank to land with. Also they don't get hot at all, just alittle warm.
5. Blade 400 : Yes stay away from it unless you want drop alot of money into it to make it fly well.
Option's you should do right away :
CNC Swashplate.
Install more shims.
Better lipo's
Everything after that is really up to you how you want it but I keep everything outside of the above listed stock.

Thanks!
I picked up a shim pack today. How many do you run and do you keep the o ring in?
What does the Cnc swash help with?
Thanks again!

I run six a side but you may want to add one at a time untill the head feels good to you.
The CNC swashplate take out the slop in the servo to head linkage. No flex like the stock one.

I agree.... I tried the brushless motor conversation. All it did was strip the main gear and yes, I know
how to set the clearance. I put the stock motor back. Heck, stocks motors and only $10 bucks...
I been using the same stock motor for over a year. And, I've only replaced one tail motor believe it
or not.
It's a great, cheap to repair heli in stock form.

Flying Season here is almost over and with 3 Pro2's I've started the replacement of worn parts.
My Pro 2 AS CNC Swashplate: This is the one I just crashed a week or so ago. Replace All Old Servo's with new. I fly em real hard and while the servo's are all working, they are worn out from me and crashes this season. I also replaced all the Bearing's 3x6x2.5mm
My Stock Pro 2 : Replaced Blade Holders and hiler mix arms, all linkage, and stock swashplate. Replaced Tail motor, Main Motor, Servo's and Bearing's 3x6x2.5mm
My UH-1 Huey Pro 2: I'm not going to replace anything on it untill the snow flys.
Outside of looking for worn out parts I for sure will replace the Bearing's.
In Four weeks when I put them up they will be ready when flying weather gets here again. The Pro2 is really an outstanding Airframe for the money. You make sure everything is good and they will give you alot of fun!~

Man I have been having a blast with this CPP2! So far no crashes. I have the brushless motor system but have not installed any of it. I have honestly not touched a thing on this bird out of the box and it fly's great!
I did hook the stock gyro gain control up to the reciever and this allows me to tune the gyro for the conditions of the day. Works great.
I invested in a better charger and parallel cables so I can charge all my packs at the same time. This works super sweet! I ordered four more packs from China and they should be here in a week or two. I have three packs now but I run thru them pretty quick.
Some I will install the head shims and get me a CNC swashplate....I figured I would wait till I cracked it up and change them then since I would have most of it apart anyway for repairs....

Yepper,
The Pro 2 really flys well stock. I would get better lipo's for it as well. I use the Thunder power 30C 3s or the 45C 3s and I also have a SMC 40C 3s all work very well.
