Kora motors

ok so the motors are avaialble 10, 12, 14 and 16.

what is this indicating? turns? what will the difference be?

10 = longest runtime, 16 = highest output?

I will be building a lepton soon and would like to figure out which would be the best choice.

I read that the hyperion 10 seems to get good reviews while the 12 is not as desireable...you think that applies to these? I hope to be able to support 4 to 5s

Theoretically they should all perform the same as the only real difference is how they are wound to produce the differing kv's. I have no idea if the numbers even correlate to anything at all. I kinda get the feeling they don't.

no, you got it backwards,

10= highest output, 16 = longest run time.

If you want great power, go with the 10 turn on 4S, if you wanted ballistic power, go with the 12T w/5S lipo.

Well, if you look to the Kontronic site only the 14 and 16 are rated for 5s packs. So you are overdriving the 10 at 4s and the 12 at 5s. Even if it works it is out of spec. and so probably not the most efficient.

I am running the 15-10W with a 19T pinion with the Jazz 55-10-32 and I am running a flat 75% on idle 1 and flat 80% on idle 2 and my hs is 3000-3150 . I can fly about 5- 6 mins and still put back about 2900mah back into the pack. The Esc, Motor, and Lipo are just warm to the touch. IMHO it is a very effecient motor and powerful as hell! :twisted:

I have heard that the lepton is 90 competitor... I don't want to slow it down to my trex speed...

Well I am running the 15-12 on a 4s 3700 packs the power is awesome the problem is to get a headspeed under 3000. I had to set my CC speedcontrol at 45% which place a large load on the controller my feeling is to go with the 15-14
so you can run the speedcontroller at as close to 100% with the 24 pinion till more pinions become available.

NEVERMIND, if you cant get the hs under control "easily" w/ 4s, 5s would be nuts

5s is not necessary but the power is sure addicting. I have had over 50 flights on my set up and the packs are still perfect and the motor is still strong as ever. The 19T pinion was the answer to running my setup.

I would like to upgrade to a kora motor and was curious if there was much of a difference compared to the Hyperion 10 turn motor ( 4S )

so which is the best motor for a 4S setup on a 24T pinion ???

I have tried the Hacker series, Hyperion series and the Kora series. The Kora seems to put out more torque and power and seems to be more effecient. Also it is lighter and smaller.

I am using the 15-10W with a 19T pinion. In my personal opinion it felt like night and day more power than the others. I am running +11.5-11.5 and am getting absolutly no bog. It just keeps on pulling like crazy.

sounds fantastic I just would like a little longer flight time than 5 to 6 min...

what packs are you using?

I am using the FP Evo 5S 3700mah "NF" packs. I don't want to chance over discharging the packs that is why I have my timer set at about 5 mins.

Well, I decided to get the Kora 15-14 and I also snagged one of the few Jazz 80-6-18 that John at ReadyHeli got in stock yesterday. Too bad Kontronik doesn't make any other parts or I could have an all Kontronik Lepton. Anyone know where to get a Kontronik sticker to put on your canopy? :D :D How are you guys strapping in these huge batteries? On my trex I used a bit of sticky backed velcro and one of those velcro straps but I'm not sure what to do on this thing.

As it has a kv rating of 790 I don't think so unless you have some big (like 28-30T) pinions. I should need either the 24T or the 26T I think on 5s. I'm kinda taking a chance on this but I'm sure it'll work out ok.

The 15-14 will be perfect for 4S
and is likely to perform even better on these 23T pinions that are comming

We run the Hyperion 3025-10 on 4S and 24T - that has a 815KV
So the Kora 15-14 will be a slightly better fit

Just got my Kora 15-14 today :D , can't wait to get it spun up, using a Hacker A30-10xl(900kv) on the 24T pinion with low throttle %,,now i can bump it up a notch(kora 790kv). Big plus is i will loose 27grams of weight with the lighter Kora.
