Anyone come up with an easy solution to see the fuel level while in Flight on an Intrepid gasser? I'd like a simple way to see the fuel level both when filling the tank and when flying. I don't generally run the fuel level down when flying, unless I forget to start my radio timer, but I'd sure feel a bit safer if I could actually see what's left. I have also found it hard to see the level when filling and sometimes end up dumping fuel out the vent line.
Let me know what you've done to make it easy to see the fuel level

I do not have a solution to the fuel level problem and will be interested in what others have to say.
To alleviate the Tx timer issue I set the timer to start when the throttle stick goes above the 10% position.

I have a DX7 and can't figure out how to do that. I don't think that is an option. If anyone knows how to do it, I'd be interested in knowing :dontknow

fly without the canopy.... Or cut a hole in the canopy that runs verticle along the fuel tank.... :dontknow

I can almost always see my fuel level from behind the heli, even in a hover, looking in through the rear of the canopy, especially when refueling.
I also don't tend to fly for the whole 30 minutes, so if I've refueled, I go fly until I get tired. I have only run out of fuel 1 time, and boy was I embarrased  ......I can usually get 2 flights out of a tank.

Chris, Maybe I'm still running way too rich, but I don't get 30 minutes. At best maybe 21-22 minutes a tank. I've only run it dry once and that was when I didn't see it correctly when I refueled. For some reason I just can't see the tank when hovering. It must be my old eyes :(
By the way, I plan on flying at lunch tomorrow to test out the new muffler. It is supposed to be 50 degrees again  My quick test on Sunday worked OK, but I didn't really do much but run ups.

Set your timer to 16 minutes and fly until it runs out then land. I do that with mine and with spoolup/landing time it gives me 15 minutes in the air.
I can't see my tank in flight (Spectra-g) but with a 15 minute flight it never runs out. Just top it off every flight and forget about it (worry wise).
So even if you only get 21-22 minutes you will never run out this way.

rbort. Yeah I've always set the timer to 15 minutes and with my Futaba radio the timer ran once I came off the throttle. With my new DX7 the timer has to be started manually. I'm not used to doing that, so I keep forgetting and never know how much time I've flown. I was just wondering if someone has some ingenious way to see the fuel level. I'm surprised there hasn't been anything created that makes it easy to see outside the canopy. I saw a setup on a Bergen Turbine so you could see the fuel in the saddle tanks. I know, I'm just too lazy :smokin:
