Well I copied this from the T-Rex 600 forum as I simply think this is an "Awesome" idea. For both beginners and experts alike power setups can be discussed a reviewed. I think most benefit will be to the people wanting to look at "what motor, esc, lipo etc do I buy?". We all know what that is like and can surely appreciate it. Like always, we can all learn from others triumphs and mistakes so let's keep it real! Now my copy of Bob "Finless" and Matt "Tickity" message....and an (add on) of my own which I hope helps  Also please note this is open to setups for AP Work, Sport Flying, not just 3D stuff...

"Power Systems that Work"

NO BULL and we need videos and/or EXPERIENCE with the systems that "work".

NO ADVERTISERS!

User experience ONLY! No speculation!

GO at it guys and lets make this a valuable POST!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guidelines:

* Please refrain from posts other than listing power setups, data logs, and video links.

* If you have questions, please PM the original poster

* If you listed a set up and are getting the same question asked over and over, please edit your original post to include that information.

* If you are adding info, data or video. - Please edit your original post rather than starting a new post.

These few things will keep the thread clean and simple, easy for others to navigate, not having to skim over the "hey how long of flight time", or "what pinion r u using" questions.

Thanks for your co-operation guys!
"Original idea & post by Bob & Matt on 600 forum, thanks guys!"

To add to this,,, feel free to copy and paste this to your response to speed things up and keep all the facts in tact. This should reduce questions and provide excellent data to everyone! :D Since not everyone has a logger I put in the avg or on landing for peeps who have temp guns instead etc...

Obviously this is a sport/duration set-up but it is still agile enough to do loops, rolls and lazy flips. This set-up is very easy on the epuipment while still providing decent sport/light aerobatic performance. HAV

This is a setup really proven and I think is definetly worth showing.

I know some do not like the fade off of this motor after 3.5 mins but I don't find it that bad. Note that Actro motors do not carry a consistent kv. What I mean in specific is that no two of these motors are alike. Several have had to use 12 tooth to obtain same HS, while some with 11 tooth have experienced over 100 rpm more on HS, obviously higher KVs than advertised. Summary of this setup is it is powerful and runs cool, and it really can take the pitch range. This graph displays 3000+ watts with the pack avg 3.7 per cell which translates to 3.0+ HP.

I lack some of the data that some of you probably want, but here is some info on how the 45-07 works in my Logo 14.

Setup style: 3D/Sport
RTF weight if known: N/A
Blades: Mikado CF 580's
Ambient Temperature: N/A
Motor and Pinion: Tango 45-07 - 11/12 Tooth Mod 0.7
ESC "Brand and size": Jazz 55-10-32
Lipo "Brand and Size": TP 10S2P 4000/FlightPower 3700 10S1P

Length of flight: 9-6 min
Headspeed: 2150ish @85% governor on Jazz esc
Motor Temp "average or on landing": Cold/luke warm
ESC Temp "average" or on landing": Cold/luke warm
Lipo Temp "average or on landing": Cold/luke warm
MAH put back into pack after flight: roughly 3000 mah

Up til last spring I used an 11t pinion on the Tango 45-07 with TP 10S2P 4000mah packs and it worked great for sports flying and mildish 3D. I got close to 9 minutes flying time on this setup and all components where cool and close to ambient temperatures.

After seing a couple videos of the germans flying hard 3D with a 13t I changed mine to a 12t. This gave more rpms and made it possible to dial down the Jazz to about 85%. If I take it easy I can still get about 8 minutes flying times but flying 3D takes 2-3 minutes off that time. Temperatures gets slightly warmer but never warm.

The 45-07 with a 12t seems to be a very flexible setup. Here is a video from a F3C competition this summer (sportsman) where I used the TP pack for hovering and then switched to an EVO pack to do the aerobatics. I had never switched packs before so I was taken by surprise by the extra power available from the EVO pack and it kind of messed up the collective timing:
http://www.lojal.no/userfiles/lorentsnm.wmv

Here is another video of the same setup flying with the older TP packs (the EVO pack was empty). Basically the only difference between this setup and the one used for F3C is lighter paddles, harder dampeners and the horizontal tail fin. I limit the flying time to 5 minutes when flying 3D with the older packs - putting back about 2600 mah.
http://www.lojal.no/userfiles/3dlogo14.wmv

Here are some graphs, but they arent quite comparable since they are flown with different styles. The first two with TP packs is sportsflying/mild 3d while the last one is 3D flying with the EVO pack:

Logo 14 with neu 1915-1y on a 15 tooth pinion, 10s flightpower 22c pack.
Radix 600mm blades with +-13 degrees of pitch.
This is mild 3d, the motor appears to be pretty decent on average amp draw and has endless power when it needs it (it'll spike to 3300-3600 watts if you can manage to really load it up, that takes v-blades and 16 degrees of pitch though  ). Makes the hacker a50-14s I was using feel weak !
The motor was 120 degrees when it came down, batteries were just warm.

Shawn buy this motor, you'll like it !
This thing would be one bad mother on 12s.

Average length of flight: 7m 30s

ESC Temp "average" or on landing": handwarm, colder as motor
Lipo Temp "average or on landing": aprox. 55 deg C
MAH put back into pack after flight: 2600mAh

With the V-Bar the Heli is very agile. It flies almost perfect with the Standardsetup so just minor tweakings had to be done (lowering Gain of Tailgyro, raising Bell on Aileron and Elevon by +10). No pressure Pipes.
Most of the time I fly with 1850 Headspeed, with 2000 it gets extremely fast. The climbrate is not as astonishing as perhaps with an Actro or Orbit motor but I think its OK, especially as the Kontronik-Set is very reliable, runs cool and efficient and the flight time is very acceptable (Note: The logged Flight was nearly Fulltime 3D-Flying). So I think this is a good Setup for any 50 electric and a good alternative to the 50 Nitro (I can't remember that my Raptor 50 w. OS Hyper was more powerful?!)

ESC Temp "average" or on landing": 21 degrees celcius

**This is not a complete or ultimate powerhouse setup imho, mainly due to not having enough bite with 500mm blades** Still this setup runs very cool and is very easy on the esc, lipos and all electronics.

Also note****
With 550 Main blades you are limited to 3:40 for time with the 3700mah 6S1P lipos. I suggest running the 5000mah packs with 550s and this setup. Running 5000mah packs however is not a good combo with only running the 500mm mains as they are too small and the power to weight feel is not good for 3D imho. *****

This heli flies solid as a rock, feels so locked in it is fantastic. I'm only doing very basic hovering training and low speed circuits at the moment, but it feels like it does everything so easily and has plenty of room for expansion. Temps back this feeling up. This headspeed seems to be perfect for learning, it is really stable and predictable. I am loving this heli

Set up low and slow at first till I get a feel for current the Jazz has to handle on 6S - will probably gear up to 15t next but this was nice to fly - no slouch and plenty of headroom for aerobatics but probably not power enough for full on 3D. Still good to have possible flight times of 7mins with this setup !

EDIT: Added in 2nd FDR with temp recording of ESC and servo current recorder - with 3 6965s and a 9254 mostly between 1-1.5A with a peak of 2.4A. Heatsink on ESC working well max 44°C and a peak current of 81A with some fairly heavy collective.

For interest same setup as above with temp recorder on ESC and servo current recorder comparing 515 vs 550 blades (Rotortech vs generic CFs - very like SABs) - limited flight to 5:30 on timer. Also included 85% on ESC for the 550s which gave more realistic handling.

Notes: The FP EVOlite 6S 5350 is 700g and sits about 1-2mm under the pinion - tight fit but works well. Very slight nose heavy but p/w ratio provides excellent performance and the power stays consistent the whole flight.

Previously used the BEC on the Jazz 80 at 5V but moved to CC BEC to get 6V. Minimally faster cyclic but not much else is different. Had a problem with the WR 5A BEC interfering with the PCM radio.

Overall, this setup is very responsive mainly due to the RT 560mm main blades and 13 degrees of pitch. There is very minimal bogging and I've been extremely happy with the setup. I'm sure V-bar would be better but for now this setup is providing pure enjoyment. My T450 flew for the first time yesterday in a month and even with the Scorpion motor it seems like a toy compared to the L500.

Here is my logo 500DX setup:

0.5 module with 23 tooth motor and 215 main tooth
Motor: Century 600A plus
Controler: Hacker X-55-SB-PRO
Tail: Robbe 401GY gyro + 9254 servo
3x JR 821 digital servo on swash
Spectrum DX7 radio system
4x 2300 mah 5S lipo's
Watt Meter & Power Analyzer (Watts up)

complete weight is 2,2 kilo or 2200 grams including battery no canopy.

This combination works great, lots of power. Not that i use it because i do not fly 3D.
But with this setup that is not an issue.
The max peak watt that i pull is about 600. This is with 1800 rpm headspeed and 12+ deg. pitch with 500 mm blades from Mikado.

Temperature of motor, controller and battery is perfect.

My fligthtime is about 6-8 minutes depending on headspeed. I put about 2000 mah back into the battery's.

idl up 1 1400 rpm
idl up 2 1600 rpm
idl up 3 1800 rpm

Here is a graph from a flight this afternoon. New heli to me and looking for opinions if everything is within range where it should be. Specs for heli are in signature, this flight is in stock form without the camera equip. Battery is FP 10s 4900mah pack. Pack is getting tired as well, new one isn't here yet.
