Hi all,
I am having real trouble programming my dx7 for my cp pro 2.
Before i couldnt get it to spin the motor up,I was advised that i needed to knock the throttle trim all the way back because the esc wont arm.
Now the motor is spinning up but the heli wont take off.even on full throttle.
and if you close the throttle quick the heli pitches forward.
any ideas?
if anyone has the same heli it would be really helpful if you posted your settings.
thanks

Maybe the throttle isn't giving 100%... try raising the high stick throttle endpoint?
konceppt

all the travel adjusts are set to 100 %

Yeah.. so possibly try raising the high stick to 150% and see if it flies?

What do your throttle and pitch curves look like?

Everything looks pretty normal except the swash mix for elevator and aileron seem high to me at 100%. Otherwise I don't see anything that is obviously wrong.
Personally, I never rely on someone elses programmed TX values, even published ones by the manufacturer. They are good "check" values, but I always go through head-setup to make sure everything is right:
- Start with a new model on the TX
- "90" the servo arms
- Level the swash
- 0 pitch at mid stick
- +11/-11 degrees pitch on collective in idle-up
- +6/-6 degrees pitch on cyclic
Finless' head setup videos are a great reference.
Sure, they do end up "around" the same, but you never know until you put a pitch gauge on the blades to see what is exactly going on when you move the sticks.

YOur swash numbers are not right.
Try %60 on all three
You have:
+100
-100
+30
Try
+60
-60
+60
That will help that problem. YOu may have other things wrong too. I wouldn't try to fly it until you are sure it's right.

edited out info that was incorrect.

It is true that "pitch" in swash mix does control blade pitch.. it's way too low! That's your issue. I bet you are getting very little +/- collective.. measure it with a pitch gauge

Pitch = 35.....not enough as previously stated, start at 60 and check that the linkages don't bind at full positive and negative pitch, with full AIL or ELE.....DO THIS WITH THE MOTOR DISCONNECTED. If you have 60/60/60 AIL/ELE/PITCH and you get some binding try reducing the PITCH value slowly.
Hope this helps

I've gone through head-setup with my own Blade CP Pro 2 and DX6i (starting at aile=60, elev=60, pitch=60) and here are the values I ended up with.
Aile = -81
Elev = 73
Pitch = 32
This gives me +11/-11 degrees pitch and +7/-7 degrees on cyclic so 35 for pitch is not unreasonable. Like I said, this should only be reference numbers. You should start with 60, 60, 60, and adjust from there with your pitch gauge.

Moved out of the Main forum. Looks like you're getting some great input and answers!

Thanks for the correction.
And....32 on pitch is really low, very surprised. I would follow the advice from one whom is flying one such as bluerock.

I guess the actual pitch value in swash mix is irrelevant... all the really counts is what the pitch gauge reads. Different values for different helis.

this is my first heli and to be honest i dont even own a pitch guage.Going to buy one today.
i have been flying it on the transmitter which came with the heli but i would ideally like to get it programmed on my dx7 as i hate having to carry more than one transmitter.
I finally just got all my fixed wings moved onto 2.4 to get rid of my old futaba 35mhz and now i have 2 transmitters again.
I may make a video and post it here so you guys can tell me what going on......

Also, watch "Finless" Bob's videos on head setup (CCPM setup part 1 & 2), which can be found in Heli skills and Setup 101: http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=41692

blue rock did you end up with pitch on swash mix as -32 or +32?
i think i found out why it wont fly.I rebound the old transmitter and watched how it moved.when throttling up the swash plate moved down.
with my dx7 the swash moves up when i throttle up??

Go to the reverse menu and reverse one or more servos until you get all the correct movements.

well i have it taking off now and all servos going the correct way but i did it by
changing the pitch value on swashplate mixing from +35 to -35

Fantastic!!! That's what I would have recommended! You're on the right track! My own values won't work for you since I flipped the grips and changed my head from trailing edge control to leading edge control, that's a whole different topic.
Happy flying and welcome to the world of helis!

So I guess all that's left to do is adjust the swashplate mixing values a bit more?
The manual says +100
-100
Which I have now changed to +60
-60
And as far as I understand it I need to adjust the values to give me
-12 degrees pitch with throttle fully back
0 degrees pitch with throttle at half stick
+12 degrees pitch with throttle fully up
Is this all I need?
And which values will correct these settings?
I.e) aileron, elevator or pitch value in the swashplate mixing menu?

The pitch value on the swash mix will adjust those angles you just mentioned. Aileron will change how much the swash plate tilts side to side and elevator will change how much the swash will tilt forward and backward.

So what am I trying to get to in terms of aileron and elevator values then?

The value that you posted on the first page is set up for dual rates. It puts both aile and elev at 70% at low rate and 100% at high rate with the swash mix for both at 100. If you are comfortable with flying dual rate then go ahead and use those them. I don't use dual rates so my aile is at 81 is at 73 which gives me 7 degrees on cyclic.
