Futaba CGY750 – Important news!

October 21st, 2010

I just received confirmation that Futaba’s new CGY750 flybarless system WILL in fact be compatible with non-Futaba receivers. This means JR and Spectrum guys will not have to unload a pile of cash in order to experience this amazing system! I won’t get into the details of how they will be made compatible right now as I am not familiar enough with the system to comment. Kudos to Futaba!

-Thanks!

Matt

Wow, great video! The only part I didn't like about it was when Bobby said you need a Futaba transmitter. I don't have the money for both ....... :bawl

Supposedly an adaptor will be coming out for "The Others.":YeaBaby:

Really? where did you hear this from? I was upset to hear the news, everything of mine is Futaba except the Radio equipement and was pretty upset with the decision of not supporting other radios.

I decided to start a new thread so others wont have to go through a bunch of posts in the other Futaba FBL thread.
In this video Bobby discusses the new CGY 750, enjoy

It has me convinced! But luckily it's not released yet, so I can't make a spontaneous purchase!

Sounds great though, I wonder how much it will be? I'd rather take a Sk720 if they are similar in price.

I heard it on RR. I assume that us JR/Spektrum guys will lose some latency though by using an adaptor.

I doubt it.

This just might revolutionize the FBL community..

10/20/2010 The New Futaba CGY 750 Flybarless System!!

http://www.bobbywatts.com/thumb_170_0_Li4vZ2Z4L3VzZXJpbWcvaXByb2Ntc19uaWV1d3 MuZmlsZW5hbWUuMzguNzQ3Ni5qcGVn.jpg (http://www.bobbywatts.com/gfx/userimg/iprocms_nieuws.filename.38.7476.jpeg) A few weeks ago, Futaba sent a few of us some test samples of their newest creation: a flybarless control system. At first, we thought it would be just like any other unit out there, but from the very first flight, I could not get over just how well this thing flew. Setup is amazingly simple, the unit is very small, the sensor hard mounts, all of the programming is done on the box itself... so many good things about this unit- I am just amazed!

I decided to make an overview video of the system- to explain to everyone out there just what we're working with. I also decided to pop in a demo flight at the end, which clearly shows that this thing is up to par with anything out there (including the natural feel of a good ol' flybar!!)

They are telling us that these things will be in stock close to the end of the year, and that street price should be very comparable to the other units out there.

Sit back and enjoy!

That a specktrum to SBUS adapter would cause any real latency.

The only thing it don't have is a bail out (self leveling) at a flip of a switch, for me thats a big deal ! :DOH

Two threads (posts #5 and #12) merged into this thread being that they were posts of the same Bobby Watts video.

Hard mounted? So it must have external dampening. So you are stuck with what ever dampening it has? What if the internal dampening is not good enough?

I can promise you this will be the NEW method of FBL and gyro systems in the future. As DSP processors become faster and cheaper there are a lot of fancy signal processing and filtering techniques that become very practical. If you are very smart about your sensor BW and with CDS/oversampling/upsampling/DeltaSigma you can shape the response and push high frequency noise out of the BW of interest.

Wasn't curtis going to to a hard mounted gyro sensor?
