Using a buggy motor

Has anyone ever tried using a buggy motor in place of the stock or brushless motor? I read other people are you using them instead of going brushless.
Could this actually work?

I've asked this question in the past.. the responses were all in favor of using the stock motors. If you have the stock 4-1 or 3-1 for BCP or BCCP they said you can fry your esc with an aftermarket brushed motor. If you get a seperate speed controller and better motor you might as well go brushless.
