I currently use a Futaba 9 channel PCM Rx.

I have used berg Rx's in the past for years in my planks with no issues.

I have a Berg 7 channel in my logo with no issues. It is PPM, full range, DSP based with fail safe Rx.

I am considering putting a berg 7 in my AP raptor for the following reasons and would like to hear some feedback.

Here is the main reason.

I just got an askman 360 mount, so I can no longer control my pan, tilt, shutter off of my 9 channel heli Rx since the cables would get twisted up from the 360.

One feature of the berg 7 is you can map any Tx channel to any output on the Rx.

So if I put one berg 7 on the heli, and another berg 7 on the 360 mount, both on the same channel, then on the berg7 on the 360 mount, downmap channels, 7,8,9, to outputs 1,2,3 on the mount Rx, then once again I would be able to control my mount all from my 9 channel Tx and fly solo which is what I do 100% of the time.

Channels 1-6 would be picked up by the heli Rx, and 7,8,9 would be picked up by the mount Rx.

Any thoughts on using the berg 7 as the main heli Rx?

I was going to just keep using the futaba I have on the heli, and just get the berg for the mount, but the futaba is PCM, and the berg is PPM.

Let the fun begin... :D

Thanks

I'm not sure you can re-map channels above 7 with the Berg, but assuming it will, this should work. Before I switched everything over to DX7-based, I was using a 9-channel DP149 on the mount, and an 8-channel DP148 on the Logo 10. I used CH7 and CH8 for pan and tilt and CH9, which is a switch-only type output for the camera trigger. On the helicopter, I used CH5 for the AP-2000i gain and used the AP-2000i to control the gyro gain.

This worked fine, but it was far from being glitch-free. One look at the new glitch counting readout on the AP-2000i was enough to get me to switch over to the DX7, even though I have to use two transmitters now. Not a single problem since. :)

Thanks for the reply. It will work, the manual says the following:

"The Berg 7p has seven output channel ports, but you can replace any of them with channels 8 and 9 using the Castle Link"

I just realized I can only use 7 and 8 as on a futaba Tx, channel 9 is only valid in PCM mode, and the berg 7 is a PPM Rx, so I can't use channel 9 in this setup.

The main reason I was posting this thread was to get feedback on

"Would you put a Berg 7 in your AP heli instead of the standard PCM Rx??"

Thanks for the feedback on this also, but let's talk about this glitch counter on the ap2000i. I'm gonna start a new thread on this with hopes that Angelos will chime in.
