Greetings,
Does anyone know how, or even if, RealFlight can be controlled by the DX7? If so, would you mind sharing setup instructions, I am very new to the hobby? Thanks much Fred

Hi
I am using a DX7 with the JR cable that comes with G3.5.
I use it on Heli, normal "single servo" swash mode. Collective pitch still seems to work as you would expect it to but you may have to reverse some channels.

I called the software company and it told me that my transmitter needs to be in FM mode, which I am not sure what it is saying. If it is not too much of an imposition, would you mind telling me how to setup the transmitter, as well, is there anything in the software I need to do to make it connect to the DX7? Thanks very much Fred

Hi Fred
I'm pretty much a noob myself but I will do my best!
Firstly dont worry about ppm or fm mode, I don't beleive it can be changed on the DX7! I've certainly never seen the function in mine or in the manual. It just works!
Also I live in Australia and my DX7 is mode 1 which is throttle and roll on the right stick, pitch and rudder on the left. I would imagine your DX7 is mode 2 for the American market so our settings there would not be the same.
Basically plug it in and see if you are getting some sort of response from the sim heli/plane. (in my case the heli would try to lift off and immediately roll to the left and smash) If you are then your DX7 is communicating with G3.5 and it just needs the channels to be set up.
To do this go into controller menu at the top of the screen.
Select controller and make sure it is on Interlink xx channel transmitter.
Then calibrate the controller taking notice of what functions/ channels are responding when you move the sticks. Some of these may need to be reversed or unwanted functions moved to a channel out of the range of your DX7 ie. channel 10. (I havn't found a way to disable them so I just move em) :dontknow.
To set up your channels use the "channel mapping" option in the controller menu.
Yours will be different but here is mine for an example....(mode 1)
Channel 1 = Throttle
Channel 2 = Roll
Channel 3 = Pitch
Channel 4 = Rudder
If you find that, for example you push your stick to roll left and the heli rolls right, your roll channel needs to be reversed.
Like I said, I am a noob too but this works fine for me.
1 more thing, G3.5 is still very buggy even with the new updates, I had to enter my channel assignments a couple of times before they "stuck".
I hope all this helps.
Good luck

Thanks again for your response. I am unable to get the DX7 to communicate with the program. Do you know a trick for that? thanks again. Fred

I actually had a problem with the lead fitting too loose in the back of my DX7.
I overcome this by wrapping the lead around the DX7 handle a few times then plugging it in.
this keeps a bit of tension on the lead and stopped it from dropping out and losing communication with the software.
This may be the problem you are having. If not, then I'm all out of ideas.
Good Luck

Your description is right on! mine was the same way exactly. I set mine up 5 or 6 times before it took. The hard part was getting the servos reversed. Mine is in mode 2 but the channel selections are the same as yours. :glasses2: Hi Fred
