Set your endpoints and run GOV mode and slow that HS down some and you will get more flight time and hide the voltage drop.

Hard to run 12s on 10 to 1 on most ESC's without the blistering HS.

hey , hey thats HC headspeed , YEH! , I would go down to a 2000 HS , sounds like you are running about 2100 to 2200 huh? got it goved what about 90% , kicking BUTt HuH

well i followed the video you and clint did on setting up the esc .
all worked fine, when calibrating the sp control. but when in idle up 1,
with all points at zero the heli would spool up if i moved the stick.
one thing i wasn't clear on... when calibrating the throttle, adjusting the end points till it beeps, wasa he in auto calibration mode on the throttle settings, or heli fixed end points?
it's in heli gov high now
the idle up "curve" is at 60% all the way across.

and i figure i need to get a set of pulleys and a belt from min air and get to work on the next step.

Setting the endpoints is done in fixed endpoint mode.
Then he runs up the heli while still in FEM to 75% on the Throttle Curve to see the HS for the gearing I was running. That HS you see then between 75% and 85% is where the GOV mode on your ESC is going to work. The closer you are to being geared to the HS you want, the better GOV mode works.

The spoolup in I1, there is trim or hold is not at zero or something weird there, you got me???? :dontknow

Going to a belt drive setup would make it fly that much sweeter. The 32-3 is a wonder at the 10 pound level, and with the right gearing and HS you should be able to get 6-7 minutes at that flying weight. We do it with our Ion's and it rules. You are almost there, your work is looking SWEET man!! Good job!!

With that Ratio GOV mode is probably not going to be able to cut many RPM off your HS. Have you tried 11s? With 10:1 you are really limited with the 32-3 on 12s. The 32-4 would be a LOT better on 12s.

On 11s, it would get your HS down a good bit to the point of maybe the GOV will start working so you then would get a lot more consistent HS throughout the 4 minutes. Maybe stretch it to 5 minutes if you can get it back to 1900 or so at your current flying weight. Dropping a cell would also lower your already stellar RTF weight a little.

Once you fly a machine like this at 10 pounds, it gets addictive huh? ;)

Just out of curiosity, what was your HS at 75% Thottle Curve after setting your endpoints and while still in Fixed Endpoint Mode?

i don't know for sure. the tach i had will only do 1990. i know, need to get the newer tach. but last night at the shop with it still in fixed end points, we tached it at 1820 at 3/4 stick, wich was 75% on the curve, in normal.
after i get the collars on the main shaft straightened out, i'll go back through the esc set up again. i ended up with 90% on the positive atv. and 85% on the neg atv. with the limits at 155% . " correction on the
curve it's at 50% in I1 and 60% in I2.
when i had the 24-5 in it, the 11s (3700 evo's) packs did fine. but they dropped fast with the 32-3. i guess it's more demanding.
the 10s 3700's i have are pretty new, less than 15 cycles. but the 11s ones are a year old, and the "old formulation", they do fine on a 50 size heli tho.
and i just checked the throttle trim wasn't at zero.
thanks for the help

we are going to make these mounts available. but i need to get a count on how many to make for the first run of parts.if you could either post here or pm me so we can get a count. this part will fit a stratus as well as a tempest. everything else is a stock Min Air part. the mounts should be less than $40.00 for the plate alone.
thank you

Ill Take 2, what gear ratio with this be for, or is this adjustable?

cgbole
02-08-2007, 06:35 AM
yep it's adjustable, i have a 100T main and a 10T pinion in it now. when i first put it together it had 90T main and 11T pinion.
the motor itself is rigid mounted to the plate and then you slide the plate back and forth to set the mesh. we wanted to keep it as " plug and play" as possible. i ran it with 8.18:1 with a actro 24-5 on 10 and 11s evo 20 3700s . then switched to 10:1 with actro 32-3. right now we're running 12s w/ a CC HV85 and 5000 TP extremes . so far so good but i'd like to put a 9T pinion on it. i'll be checking with min air today to see if they make one .
thanks guys

Yes, maybe they can suggest a way to use the Razor/Ion belt drive on this.

Cheers,

well i already got some ideas. but it seemed pretty dialed in today.
might go to a 32-4 and 8.6 gearing. but i think it'll do fine for a while,
but experimenting is going on.. 32-4 is 415 kv or a nue 1915 1.5y is 450kv. looking for the z power Z70 series to come along and see what
choices are avalible with that. i still don't think there is anything out there to beat the stratus as far as flying goes. ya know what HC says at the start of this video...

Thanks and conversion looks great.
