Great job on the conversion...there are alot of used Fury Extremes out there...any chance that one of these would fit?

can you put a larger main gear on it? 100T. let me see if i can find a good close up pic of the frames on one. post one if you can. or pm me one.

well i'm going to try out a neu 1915 1.5y on 12s at 9.5 ratio.
and a SAE 85 sp controller with a airospire e multigov.

One warning Chuck,
I ran a 1915 1.5Y in my E-Raptor 90.
Steve neu doesnt admit it, but they still have problem with shaft slipping, I almost lost my bird when the motor self-destructed midair.

Be sure to REALLY let it cool down between flights...

New H line of motors should be released within the month, hopefully they are better.

we'll keep a close eye on it. so is the shaft locktighted in? might have to put the local machinest to work on it.

Loctite or High temp epoxy.
Either way it seems that it let go if the motor is too hot.

it was 10.03 lbs with 11s 3700 evo's 11.01 lbs with 12s 5000 TP extreme's
probly just under 10 lbs with 10s 3700 evo's but the flight times were kinda short and very close to the limit of amps drained. the TP"S are heavier but there is so much punch with 12s it's amazing... and scarey!
he he.

You might want to check your scale and see if your 12s tp5000mah packs weigh 3lb 3ozs.

My Stratus weighs (with aluminum boom so 2-4oz heavier?) 12lb 4oz with 12s pack. It has all standard stuff with 2s2p li-ion with regulator like the rest of the stratus.

With 2200+ head speed, I got 5min flight time with 12s 5000pack

The battery removal/installation is done without removing the canopy and it literally takes less time than glow refueling.

Before I going 12s I decided to try something, with original 8.45:1 YS gearing.
I did a different setup on mine, using 10s2p 7400 batteries, I was going to use it as a "trainer".

Maiden it today, it was pure power, pretty cool, eagletree gave up so I guess I pushed above 125amps or so.
I had around +-12 degrees pitch with 690V's

But actully, I didnt feel the extra weight, it flied like a dream, until second flight when the motor shaft sheered straight off.
However, looking at the "break-surface" it looked like half happened now, and half sometime before.

To fit the 10s1p packs in parallell I did a slight modification, using iron parts they are pretty heavy, but it was just for this test :)
(Went to the homesupply store and found those which are for putting your drapes up, well, you take what you have)

LOL mr mel, that looks dangerous.. wonder how much that thing would flex through 3d i wouldnt even hover that thing

MrMel

It wont flex a mm, even in hard 3D, its solid iron, its more sturdy then the original alu :)

(ive tried it already)

Flied the machine yesterday, its about the same performance as stratus nitro .
Flighttime about 9 minutes.

is that elevator push rod bent too

Nope, bad camera/compressed picture.

Flied it yesterday again, heavy but powerful.
Dont think i would recommend this setup on anything else then a powerjazz though, I suspect it hits > 150 amps.

hey , 150 amps , kinda hard for me to believe that , if you hitting that high , you will see very shortly , 3 things that will happen , strip the main gear , shaft break , or blow a winding , more likely to break the shaft, on my 14s 32-4 , 10 degrees of pitch , the only way I could hit anything over 4300 watts "about 90 amps" , was full collective FF and then keep full collective while doing a flip. it still pulled great , but you could tell I lost about 400 on the head doing it , also the shaft broke on the 32-4 while the heli was demo by Bert K. adding 15 degrees of pitch and hitting amps with the old 14s4p 5300s. I also ran 2 10s2p 4200s in an Ion, pulled great , different feel in the air too, voltage stayed high , Scott Glassgo flew it last year at MO event , it did good but heavy , he maybe peaked 100 amps on it ,

hey Tony any chance you might make it to MO. this year?

Since I happened to be on the same field as MrMel during the first testflights of this bird I might tell you that you are right, the shaft broke in the second flight (or third if you are picky, he hovered it at home once before). Havent heard anything of the new shaft so I guess it still holds together.

Its 10s...
4300 watt under heavy load (3.0v per cell) would require 143 amps, so my 150 isnt that much off...

New motor is holding totgether, I suspect the old had a previous crack in it.

Btw, EagleTree FDR have a 300 amp addon and they also have a 70 volt mod (obs, not micropower, its only for the regular FDR)

I have ordered the 300 amp addon, should be good to have it for my larger ships, no more guessing :)
