I didn't find that - tried my Logo 400 FBL back to back with my Compass Atom 500 FB - both helis well setup but both as difficult :)
Just try a simple piro funnel or a wall of death... you'll see what I mean, much less corrections...
EOT guys, lets continute the challenge :D

FYI, I just posted challenge #2. Now in my opinion you should have challenge #1 down before moving to #2. It's about getting it right not how fast you can move on to the next challenge!

Hey guys and girl,
I met up with a friend today at the flying field, as chance would have it we spoke of this thread! I had my camera so I issued him the challenge! He excepted, and met it with excellent results!
Mind you it was very windy, and he has just started flying helis again after quite a long break. When you see the video you will realize, he must have really learned his basics well all those years ago!

wow, very nice considering that wind!

WOW! snjbird, tell your friend 3 :thumbup::thumbup:
That was a stiff ass-ed wind for sure.... Some guys need to take note about complaining about wind here with this video! One of the next steps in learning control is dealing with conditions! I see a LOT of guys head home when the wind is like that. Don't give up.... I find it harder for me to fly in NO wind because we have 8-12 MPH winds here every day!
In fact, if you have regular trade type winds you deal with all the time, it can effect your flying as you learn to do some things like loops or auto's in one direction as that is what you learned to get use to BASED on the wind.... Myself I am no where NEAR as accurate with auto's for instance if I have to do them from left to right vs what my local winds force me to do daily which is right to left.
So snjbird's video here shows that this in fact ALL can be done wind or no wind.
Thanks for posting that snjbird!
I am damn impressed with this mans ability to slow piro in that kind of wind and keep it in one spot better than many can with no wind! HELL the heli was leaning the WRONG WAY due to the wind! This person has obviously learned his orientations well and can compensate for conditions. Hmmmm... Might have to think about that for a later challenge ;)

I joked with him about the wind, he is from Scotland, so I jested that he probably couldn't do it if it was calm! :YeaBaby: I was super impressed, he just got that 600 a few weeks ago and we have been getting it tuned out, and flying right!

This was what I was working on before the fire. Did a test run today and am almost back to where I want to be - video in a few days!

Here's my first attempt at this flight challenge.
My initial thoughts are: I felt I was holding each orientation longer than I was. I knew it wasn't 20s, but I was at the end of my battery. Overall, all went O.K., I should have done this challenge on a machine that isn't out of track and vibing, but here it is.
Also, I apologize for the wind noise and it's my friends first time watching a heli, so he's easily impressed.

Looked pretty good to me simonseize..... Only comment is I would have liked to see you do the slow piro a full 360 or even more than one but this vid showed you have your orientations down :)

Yes Bob, many thanks to this community!
I'm looking forward to FC#2, might have to wait for snow, then I can use some sort of biodegradable spray pain to make a box.

Ok, so I'm not that late to the party..........
Great idea! We used to do this every week using Phoenix and have a group fly where we would pick one FIA maneuver and one 3D and we would all work on it during the session.
The FIA moves will pick apart your flying skills in a hurry. :)
I'm in if I can get my camera girl working and upload........and....;)

This is a video of a friend of mine, Frank S.
He has only been flying for two months, much of that time on a Hobby People Mystery.
The last month or so he has been flying Trex 450 V1's, the last two weeks or so, a Trex 500.
I saw him performing hovering maneuvers and asked if I could shoot video for Bob's Challenge:

I am impressed.

Ah Chem (AK MED)..... THAT is cool dude.... He has not really done the full challenge as described but LOVE to see a new guy getting the basics down! :noteworthy:noteworthy:noteworthy
I am sure since we are LOCAL boys I will meet him one day but GREAT to see :)

Bob,
"He has not really done the full challenge as described but LOVE to see a new guy getting the basics down!"
I know, I just asked him to do a four point pirouette and a slow pirouette and told him I was going to shoot video and post it here and he just did it. He was not practicing for this specifically.
He is getting the basics down really well and early. He is also enjoying the learning process, which we all, sometimes, forget to do.
These Challenges are great, by the way!

OK, I'll play :)
Here is a video shot by a friend of mine shortly after I finished my first Caliber 90. I believe it has all the components Bob requested...

The goals behind these Flight Challenges are 1) to have FUN :) , 2) become safer pilots, and 3) gain a set of skills that will help us when learning more difficult maneuvers.
Well I got (3) flights in with the little Blade SR in the snowy backyard which isn't big. I had the camera on a tripod while I flew. I worked on the challenge #1 but I've worked on it in the past when it was warmer with the 450pro and 600N at the flying field when weather was better. I don't think I do too bad for a few weeks off and with a camera rolling. I did some video editing and picked the two best attempts.

This second video is me pirouetting for a whole 2:15 minutes!?!?!?! I was having a blast keeping it going. I would try to keep it in one spot at times but it was fun to move it around and up/down. The timer goes off and I felt good so I decide to try to land while pirouetting!

Now I just need to work on challenge #1 inverted and start on #2 :YeaBaby:

Hey guys
Here’s my submission to Finless Bob’s Video Challenge No.1! These things are a really good idea and I’ve enjoyed watching the entries so far. Pretty hard act(s) to follow and kudos to everyone trying it on their 250s and 450s! Way to make it easy for yourselves guys! :P
I probably flew a bit too high but I like to keep a goodly distance between my heli and the hard stuff… The vid goes really dark at one point but I can’t expect too much from a $20 keychain cam strapped to my hat. You still get the general gist of my heli drifting around ineptly. :o
Now to get cracking on number 2!

Here's my attempt of the challenge.
It's indoors (does that count?) cause it's way too cold to fly outdoors and it's my first time hoovering Nose In.
It's kinda sloppy but hey, I'm getting better and better.
Enjoy!

Nicely done, andypants and IBremer!

Yes! Great jobs. Ibremer, I loved your smooth slow transitions to the clock points. Very nicely done.
andypants, doing good man! Slow piro's are tough aren't they? but I see your doing well trying to know when to make corrections.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the feedback. One way I keep the sim interesting is I've made a pact with myself that if I crash, I need to start the next flight with a four-point hover and if I stray beyond a certain point, I have to start again from tail-in. It makes me a whole lot less blase about crashing on the sim cause you can keep stuffing up and end up doing hovers for hours!
I'm liking the idea of a third, comparatively quite difficult challenge, Bob. A piro square would be a great thing to work toward, satisfying to pull off and a challenge gives great impetus to practise. I'm at flight 115 (still counting lol) and have a long way to go. :)
Cheers!
