Hi,

From the relative lack of recent posts in this forum it looks like the MX-400 is no longer the flavor of the month..... but that doesnt bother me since i have one ready to fly (fix) coming from RC expert and i bought another from omni models to have for spares (heck they are about giving them away)i want to stay plastic for awhile.. at least until i crash up all the plastic parts from both heli's

I know now i should have just bought the basic kit or the XS bling model and then bought all the good electronics in pieces but hindsight is 20/20.... c'est la vie.

In an attempt to repair my karma i went ahead and bought some HS65's for it (one MG)
and a DX7 which is waiting for the RTF heli to show up monday.
The spare MX-400 heli will be here tuesday along with the pro linkage set (gotta have ball joints instead of Z bends)

I want to tear one apart and build it back as perfect as i can so everyone be getting ready for some questions... hopefully not stupid ones :fly

Now...
I'm not sure about the other components that are coming with the RC expert 400.....

RC-expert 40A Brushless Motors Electronic Speed Controller (ESC-BS40A)
RC-expert 3600kv Outrunner Brushless Motor
Telebee RCE-500X head Hold Gyro

anyone know anything about these?

i have already been back thru all the posts in this section and have not seen where they have been subjected to "freak" testing/review before

i would like to be able to use these parts for at least the first part of my learning curve but i dont want catastrophic failure to be the cause of my crashing... lol so i "may" need to upgrade.....

thanks for the feedback and i look forward to stirring things up in this forum again.

Frank

BTW i put my offical introduction in the main heli forum

which MX400 is it , is it the Pro version , with red metal 4 point swashplate and red metal tail case ?? gold color tail boom ?? heres a tip once you get the linkages setup and you are at the point where you are checking your range of pitch , some of the lever arms bind in different places near the flybar cage some sand paper needs to be used in around the plastic parts where they meet up and move around each other , Im not being very clear sorry bout that just check over the whole head assembly for binding you will find some check for binding while moving the swash up and down the main shaft with everything connected .

I like you motor ESC combo , should have alot of power . What blades are you planning on using ?

Steve,

not sure if its the pro or no.... its going to be coming with a metal swash and tail case but from the pictures they dont look red. I'll know tomorrow when it gets here.

i have ordered the pro linkage set ( i hate Z bend slop).

i plan on taking the bird completely apart looking for any binding/slop then installing my radio/servos

as far as blades go i guess i will be flying what comes with.... in stock size.
got any recommendations for better blades? i dont want to have to stretch the tailboom until i crash up the parts i have :D

i've read ZOOM blades will fit?

do you know anything about this particular motor/ ESC? i am sure it's a clone of something but i cant figure out exactly what (yet)i guess once it's all in hand it will be easier to figure out but i fear there wont be any instructions on setting up either the gyro or ESC.

what kind of run times do you think i will be looking at with the battery that is coming with it?

thanks,
frank

hi
a lot of useful info on this site

http://www.x400tuning.com/

the esc that came with my rc-expert x400 is similar to the otter esc and set it up like so.

Otter ESC setup video (19 Megs 320x200 rez)

enjoy

if the esc link does not work, just go to the finless page on the HDX 450 set-up and the first video is for the ESC.

Hey thanks.... that was right on time!
I think i can handle that :glasses2:

I saw the telebee gyro setup on the HDX300 build videos so i think i'm good to go on setting up the electronics.

only thing i am concerned about now is getting/setting correct RPMs since i dont have a tach.... once i get to see what pinion is on there that too may also become clear (er)

if you are just starting out, go with an 11t pinion .
