View Full Version : battery weight
I mistakenly posted this under the Bergen category, sorry. Can anyone tell me what the weight of a sub C 2400 mah NiCad battery is? I want to see what the difference in weight is between that and a Duralite 4300 mah and regulator, which is approximately 8.8 oz. Thanks.

Thanks, David. The pack I have is just a regular JR sub C 2400 mah. I was under the impression that the LiIon pack would be a lot lighter but it turns out that with the battery and regulator the weight is going to be almost identical. Actually, that's good because my CG is perfect with the sub C's so it will be the same when I switch to the Duralites. Right now with the 2400 NiCad in a Bergen gasser I'm only getting one full tank of fuel before recharging. Now that's a little over a half hour of flying but it's just not acceptable because at the end of two flights with a 1 amp load placed on the battery my readings are anywhere from 4.8 to 4.6 volts - just not enough for my liking. I understand people are getting 8 flights and more. I'll be happy with 2 or 3 with power to spare.

Once I switched to Duralites I wondered how I got by before.
One charger for the radio and 3 helicopter (at the same time) is sweet too! :smokin:

well, consider using a 2400 Li pack instead of the 4800 (or get two and swap).
are you really gonna fly 6 flights on that one machine before recharging?
I just want to be able to fly two, maybe three flights without worrying about the battery getting too low on the last flight. The Duralite 4300 pack with a regulator should work out perfectly.
