I am getting a rattle as the motor leans out toward middle stick. I know, do the cat eye mod. Anyway, the rudder rod guides were a little worn, so I replaced those. I have been over this damn thing a hundred times! I can't listen and guess the general vascenity of the noise. I am getting pretty annoyed. The bird flies great, as expected from the MA crew (sorry little proud) . Anyway, no noticable vibrations and the motor is smooth. Underlying question: Can I do the "cat-eye" mod to the SX-H? I was planning on just yanking the carb and looking, but I thought that I would ask, since it will probably be a subject of this post. What do you guys think?

Extreme, OS91 SXH, JR 8103, 8231's, MAH's, GY401

I put this on "the other forum", but few responses. Responses received were fan dampners, and motor bearring. Thank you to those who replied and I am checking those possabilities.

Beuller, Beuller????

Check the torque tube and see if the bearing is loose on the tube. I have seen the glue let go a couple of times and the bearing would slide to one end of the tube. When this happens the tube is whipping inside the boom.
The cat eye mod is done to the low end adjustment needle. This is the needle that is controled with a screwdriver. Yes it can be done on the OS 91 SX, but not sure that motor needs it. IF it is the SX and not the CSpec that is probably where the noise is coming from. The SX version of the 91 had all kinds of vibration problems.

If it's not the boom, check the engine dampners the do wear out. Especially with the 91's. It's easy to ck. If you noise sounds like metal on metal that's probably it.

If not go lookin in the boom for it.

good luck. Hope you find it. I know how fustrating that can be. :arggg:

Thanks guys. I will check the boom. It really doesn't sound like metal, so I am leaning towards the boom. Nothing will be overlooked, though. I have seen you guys around here, and I see great advice.

Thanks again.
