Hi Guys;

I want to keep the stock kit CF carb deflector plate mounted on my Spectra G with TRM 231, but I also want to install a new Z-RC aluminum manifold. Can the deflector plate still be used or does it have to come off for the new teflon gaskets to seal properly?

Cheers;
Eric

I fly mine without. I feel that CF plate is not needed.

Thanks guys!

Maybe I should'nt bother with the plate then... I'm still in early learning phases about MinAir stuff and particularily the Spectra G. I read an article by Carey Shurley recently that talked about making sure the plate was used... hence why I was reluctant to leave it off.

you won't be able to use the plate and the z-rc adapter because the teflon gasket won't seal properly against it.

If over time you start to see the helicopter lean out in flight for no obvious reason, try putting the plate back on (which will require the original isolator block) and see if the problem goes away before spending too much time chasing other problems.

Ok Carey that sounds reasonable... By the way, your articles are what inspired/pushed me to get a Spectra Gasser... :D

I hope you enjoy it. If your thing is gasoline models, its got a lot going for it. Both John and Raja have hundreds of flights on theirs.

I said the same thing to Carey not so long ago. The Rotory Modeler articles are my favorite, they've made my "personal collection".

I wish I had more chances to fly with John and Raja, but I've only seen them once each this past year, same with Carey.

I havent had any hassles with the teflon seal and the carbon plate , but I use "Aviation FORM-A-GASKET #3" on all the gaskets, except exhaust....... search on www.permatex.com ...

Thanks Carey, but I cant claim the credit ; I've only just heard of the stuff recently .. and I'm reasonably recent to gassers , been flying X-Cell for 15-16 years though ..Some of the experienced Gasser people here put me on to the product ,, Its bloody good stuff !!!! :noteworthy :noteworthy :noteworthy

I think I would like to try this stuff, where would be the best place to possibly find it?

Thanks

Mike
