A little update on the stretch:
I just got back from doing a FF test flight with the 710mm stretched e550, G10 frame kit.
Z50A-600, 12t pinion, 111t main gear, HV85, 10s2p 4600 a123, AUW without 360 mount 10lbs. Head speed at 1650rpm in fixed mode.
10min flight of FF, hovering a couple mild climb outs and everything was cool to cold. Granted its 24f outside but still very impressive. Battery's took back 3800mah.
I still have a wobble when spooled up on the ground but when I lift off into a hover its smooth as can be. I'm lost on that and have given up trying to sort that "phenomenon" out.
Anyways very happy with the Z-motors and the a123 setup for AP.
Note: A big thanks to DJ and Dreslim for the stretch help and of course Gary and Askman and ..............

I am new to rc's and I have just ordered the 550e with the G10 frame, both should be arriving this Friday. I am very interested in this post and plan on checking back for any updates and flight progress. I, also, would like to see some photos.
:dontknow I NEED ALL of the INFORMATION I can get on building this craft up for AP use. I have not ordered the Z-motor, blades, gyros, servos, or transmitter yet. I have also ordered RealFlight G3.5 SIM. I live in South Texas and I do not know of any RC clubs that are close by. I am using this site to gain as much knowledge as possible.

very nice. don't worry about tracking down the wobble on the ground... it's what helicopters do. ;)

spool up wobble could be something as easy as blade bolt being on too tight or not tight enough. you will always see some, it is matter of how much is acceptable.

Wow, I keep forgeting about the blade bolt issue. I've had exactly that same problem.
Looking good. Mine is similarly setup, but not finished quite yet. :)

just be glad you have a basement! Not many basements in my state due to the water table :(
Looks like you kicked up some dust in that first pic.
heli looks great! how do you like the co pilot?

No Co-pilot. Using the FMA IR sensor with the AP2000i. It works great, but don't have much time playing with it yet. I would be happy without a basement and living in Hawaii.
Not sure where the dust came from. Don't do much flying in the basement with the 710's.
I just don't understand why it wobbles on the ground but in a hover it doesn't. I understand during spool up but once its at max rpm I would think it would smooth out. As long as its happy in the air I'm happy.

Sissy! :D I flew my heli in the basement 3 times last night.

Some form of resonance. I have seen this on mine also, and I think it is the LG. Weight of the heli is sitting on the landing gear compressing it. Head speed could cause some resonance through the landing gear and back out. Once you lift off, the LG uncompresses and resonance goes away. As long as it's good in the air I would not worry.

Those blades are actually tuff and fold up quite nicely when the wind blows you into something. :D
I actually have 8 blades left.
The 4 originals are still on it, and the 4 spares are still in the box. :tongue

Now I see the AP2000i. :YeaBaby: i've been reading up on that. i may need one cause i still suck.
The flash will light up the smallest speck of particles in the air sometimes. especially against a dark background. We do some night weddings near the ocean using 3-8 seconds exposure and if the wind is coming off the water the flash will light up all the salt in the air.
