ive got aerofly pro deluxe and have managed to learn the basics with it. Now im starting to toy with backwards and inverted flying. After hearing good things about phoenix and reading the review on trextuning its got to be better than afpd but is it really worth spending the money on another sim.
any comments would be great

phoenix has a very realistic trex 450.
its pretty common knowledge that AFPD is really a fixed wing sim with helis tacked on for good measure.
phoenix is quickly becoming known as not only the best heli sim but also showing signs of getting great respect amongst fixed wing pilots. Dont take my word for it tho lots of info on the rcheliaddict.
phoenix is cheap (80) which means that when you sell your AFPD phoenix wont actually cost you much. One guy sold his reflex xtr on ebay for 100ukp!
hope this helps,
Ade

I agree the 450 is very lifelike, it's a very nice sim all round and my flying is coming on in leaps and bounds. Just a shame it's blowing a gale outside so I can't put the sim work into practice.

thanks guys
Yeah i bought afpd before i found this forum. The guy in the model shop said it was the best one oh well. That was the main thing really i wanted the sim to be as close to the trex as possible. I'll check out rcheliaddict for some more info.
lol blowing a gale outside tell me about ive got square eyes from sim time roll on summer :glasses2:
thanks again

unfortunately a lot of modelshops will sell you what they have rather than what you really nead.
they would rather take a sale now than risk you going somewhere else because they dont have what you really need in stock.

Hi dukesy,
I've been running Reflex XTR for several years, just switched to Phoenix. I'm loving it.

1.03c has superseded 1.03b, they're busy this lot.
I emailed to ask if they had an email notification facility, unfortunately they don't so I'll have to rely on updates being posted here.

woo hoo got my phoenix today it rocks :Bang
Eveything about it is better than afpd its quality it just feels so much more realistic so much easier to judge how far away the model is too.
Thanks for all the replies to this post

I got a copy of it yesterday. Love it!!!! It's the best I've used yet.
Have it loaded on a two year old comupter with an AMD Athlon 2500 processor, NVIVIA 6600GT Video card, and 512 MB Ram.
I have all of the video options on, and set to high. The display is fast and seamless. I doubt most of the other high end sim's would work this well on this computer.

I have a couple questions if any one could help please. I am in the process of trying to select a sim for use only I am undecided at this piont between Reflex and now this "phoenix" sim.
Would it be any good for say a Logo 10?
Does it come with a controller?
Where is their website?
Is there somewhere to buy this in Canada?
Thanks,
Lane

I can only comment on phoenix and to be honest i was looking to buy reflex first untill i heard about phoenix and how most people were selling there copies of reflex to buy it. Im sure both of these sims would really help you to improve your flying. I dont want to push the vote to phoenix without any knowledge of reflex so you'll have to wait for other peoples comments. In the mean time check this review from Trextuning.

Hi theLane,
I have both. I prefer Phoenix. Both sims come with a dongle for your radio, they do not come with a controller.
Both will help you learn, both have great graphics, are both are quite realistic (with some tweaking).
I prefer Phoenix because it's simply more fun and holds my attention longer. I love the night flying, water effects, auto practice, balloon breaking etc.
I really appreciate the company's attention to it's customers. They are very quick to respond to customer feedback and updates are quick. This is a real big plus for me.
I can not help you with a Canadian retailer, I got my copy from Tower Hobbies.
Cheers,
Leslie

I used to own AFPD, G3, Pre-View, FMS and presently own Clearview and Reflex XTR.
In my opinion, XTR beat them out for helis.
What I can't take any more is the red striped wall. I have placed my order for Phoenix-Sim (which you can buy for $130 with the $30 off sale at Tower Hobbies). It's a steal.
Hopefully worth every penney. Looking forward to it!

Thanks... can I use my radio from the BCX2 with these sims? If so, what cable would I get for this?

I was just looking around and as far as I could tell, Phoenix and Reflex are about the same price. Where in Canada (or the US) would be a good place to buy either one from?

Tower Hobbies has Phoenix LXPNM8 Runtime Games Phoenix R/C Flight Simulator w/Adapter $159.99 Use ad number 010E9 and get $25 until the end of Jan. Tower does some sort of special every month. It comes with a JR plug and an adapter for Futaba. Shipping was only $3.99 to my address.
Ready Heli and several other places have Reflex XTR SIM Simulator REFLEX-FUTABA or REFLEX_JR $189.95 you have to order for your specific transmitter. Free shipping
Reflex's web site has an announcement for a update or upgrade comming Feb1st. no real info but might be worth waiting a couple of days.
