Hi,

I've some mistake to adjust the Zenoah G26 on the Observer EB.
Could you tell me how long do you grind it ?
Which fuel mixture for grinding and finally for flight ?
What H and L screw adjustment have you got ?

What max pitch could be well with that configuration ?

Thank you,
Renaud SILVESTRI

Renaud,

If you mean the silver idle adjustment screw on the bottom of the carb , just remove it.

Mix your fuel with 6 oz of oil to a gallon of gas for the first 2 gallons, then 5 oz of oil after that.

Set your high AND low needles to 1 3/8 turns out to start with, then tune in a small amount at a time to smooth up the engine in a hover.

Headspeed should be 1450 to 1550, wherever the heli is happiest.

Pitch setup should be -7 or -8 at low stick, 4-5 degrees in a hover, and 11 or 12 at high stick.

Something else that will help tremendously is the setup and tuning video from Gary Travis, http://garytravisrc.com/id2.html

Thank you Chris.

That my first "gaz" heli, so that a bit spécial for me...

I have to remove that big screw ? That just a mecanical stop for the idle, no ? Which is the result after having removed this screw ?

We haven't got the same unities in France. You meen 4,7 % oil for the first 2 gallons, and 3,9 % after that ? That correct ?
And mixing it with what fuel in USA ? Have you the same fuel as in France ? "unleaded 95" and "unleaded 98" ?

Thank you,

Which is the result after having removed this screw ?

After removing the idle screw, your throttle servo will control the idle.

The oil ratio Chris is suggesting is 20:1 for breakin and 25:1 after breakin.

We are using unleaded gas in the US. I do not know if France calculates the octane rating as we do. We generally use "87". Higher octane will not benifit the engine performance of you heli. Just cost more :D

Mark is correct, I usually denote the oz instead of the ratio...

Use the lowest octane gasoline you can get, filter it, before it goes into your heli.

If you leave the idle screw in, then the throttle will go no lower than that, an idle. Removing the screw will allow you to kill the engine with your throttle trim all the way down.

Hi,

I've tested that seetings ! That perfect !
My test with 20:1 oil for breaking, the engine couldn't more than 9° collective pitch at hight stick. I'll test to increase that max pitch after breaking.

Thank you very much for your answers !

Renaud,

If you´re interested in octane differences between the US and Europe, then check out this webpage by Petrobras - I found it while researching the same question for Brasil gasolines. It´s in Portuguese, but it´s the figure under 3) that you need to look at!
