I'm having a small problem with my 30 it seems that when i try to hover it the tail wants to drift nose left and i can't figure out why. i have a 401 gyro that I've tried two of and still the same problem can anybody tell me what the distance between the pitch slider and tail case should be because i think that my tail blades is what's pulling the nose left but i could be wrong i want to make sure i also have the tail mounted servo and the linkages are 90 degrees to the horns so i think that i can rule that problem out any suggestions
thanks

Are you flying with the gyro in Heading Hold mode or normal mode?
Which tail servo do you have?

I know this may sound a little dumb but if everything checks out on the servo/gyro make sure the tail blades are on correctly & the belt has the proper "twist" to it. Reason being I fought with a new (to helis) guys tail at the field with the same problem after everything else checked out good I finaly looked & noticed the tail blades were on bacwards & belt was twisted wrong. So it looked as though everything was right but it was working backwards.
Good luck & hope you get it!

What transmitter are you using, and also where do you have the gyro gain wire lead plug in at?

While hovering, is the LED staying solid.....or blinking. If you are HH Mode and the light is blinking, you may have some subtrim or something dialed into your radio. Vibration can also cause drifting.

solid indicating HH and all trims (double checked twice) are at zero

leading edge facing up toward the( fat side UP) main rotor and tail rotor rotates counter clockwise opposite way of the main rotor

got it figured out guys. the drift was coming from the fact that there was not enough tail rotor to pull the nose back to the right i have since corrected this and the heli flies great

That will do it, Glad you found it.
You want to make sure that the setup will allow full lock to lock on the tail pitch slider.
You do not want to limit the gyros ability to control the tail.

it does in fact the limit on the gyro is about 120% with no binding at all i might can make a little more right to hold the tail rock solid but the tail is very much manageable, so why mess with it right? keep in mind that i am learning to fly these things and I'm only hovering, but when i get into the hardcore stuff i will need to get all of it out. a little right rudder here and there is nowhere as bad as the drift i did have. i can hover it now. :glasses2:

Another thing that I tell beginners is to start learning to hover with the HH on, it makes it easier to fly. After you get the hang of it turn the HH off and you will then start to learn more about controlling the tail.
When you start learning forward flight start learning with the HH off this will allow the tail to weather-vane and stay behind the heli when you make a turn.
Again once you get the hang of Forward flight that turn the HH back on again.

yup i will but i think the next thing on the list is autos never know when i might need to do one if you know what i mean. my confidence level is pretty good so far going to work on moving the heli around in a hover then probably
start working on autos and i have already added the constant drive tail gear so now my tail rotor is driven that should make auto's easier i think you never know until you do one right?

I woould hold off on autos till you master forward flight since to do an auto correctly the heli should be moving forward till a moment before touchdown.
You can safely play with mini autos now where you hit hold from no more than 3 feet up and just let it settle to the ground.
