I just need a little love

Something for newbies...from one to another...BE CAREFUL on the 'For Sale' forums.

There are great deals out there for sure...I bought a Blade CP from a truly nice guy that went above and beyond to help me out...and I also purchased a T-Rex 450XL fully upgraded with a JR transmitter ready to go from another very nice guy that also went above and beyond to help me out.

However...I've made some mistakes and been burned some other deals:

1. Over paid (lack of research on my part) for 2 Li-Po batteries that did not work with my set-ups that I was able to re-sell at over a 50% loss. (my fault for buying them wrong)

2. Sold a charger at a very fair price and covered shipping only to be told by the buyer that it's not what he wanted and now wants to return it (not sure what to do about this) The charger works perfectly and is exactly what I said it was...but I don't want him to feel that I 'stuck him' with something he didn't want.

3. Bought a bad swash plate that nearly cost me my T-Rex. This was mis-represented and the seller has vanished (E-Bay)

4. Bought a supposedly brand new 'only flown twice' Blade CX2...that...upon arrival (shipping took nearly a MONTH! from this guy)...one of the blades came apart while in a HOVER. Replaced that and then a servo died. Seller has become very difficult to track down now.

My advice:
1. BE PATIENT...do not act on impulse and deals that seem to good to be true...they probably are and you will end up losing money in the long run.
2. and while you're being patient....DO YOUR HOMEWORK
3. Don't get pushed around...take a stand and don't let people with more experience intimidate you.

Anyway...take it for what it's worth...like I said...I've had some great deals at bargain prices with genuinely nice and thoughtful people...but there are some bad apples out there that you gotta watch out for.

Best of luck

I can relate to what youre saying being a noob and all. As far as selling something you clearly described and then the buyer changing his mind Id have to say tuff luck to him.

Ive bought servos that I thought would work in my application but were a pita to deal with. Do you think I went back to the seller and said "ooooops I bought the wrong thing now can I have my money back" no I chucked it up to my noobness and said that shall pass.

Yes buyer beware, seller as well as buyer.

As always, you should have some knowledge of what you are buying and who you are buying it from.

I'm sure you don't buy a car, tools, or anything else without knowledge or advice from someone. It doesn't hurt to do the same with helicopter stuff.

1) Learn from your mistakes.

2) As long as you described it properly, then it is his fault for buying the wrong thing.

3) It happens. With some of these things, it just isn't worth the small savings for the potential probelms.

4) Post where the seller is, this forum has had success before. :)

Last three, yes, Yes, and YES. :)
