Very interesting.

a) What does it plug into (that doesn't look like a USB plug) ? Is there a USB dongle that comes with FSOne that has a socket for that plug ?

b) Since you have to bind it to the Tx, on the DX7 you could only ever have one model-memory that could talk to the device. That's a bugger if you want to fly both planes and helis, isn't it ?

Good
- No wires
- Doesn't wear out your trainer socket

Bad
- Tx RF section is on so will use more power and last less time than in trainer mode
- Maybe a pain to use with both planes and helis on a DX7
- Only for FSOne

a) FSone does come with a long usb cable with an interface box. That’s where you would plug in the FS1 controller, and Also come with adapters for your own radio. Not sure which brands tho.

b) No idea. No specs or details yet. I don’t have a spektrum (except the CX2 TX) so I don’t know how it works. But yes, it sounds like it could be a hassle.

Batt life should not be too bad. I don’t know about the DX6/7, but the TX that came with my Blade CX2 only take 4 AA batteries which I have yet to replace. Seems pretty efficient.

I'm not saying its the best thing to happen to sims, or that you should buy FS1 just because of this, but I already bought it and I am glad they are working on something for it. I thought they might just shove it on the market and not look back. Just something cool to play with. Like you, I'm waiting on a DX7 anyway.

I am guessing that the device is a DSM (not DSM2) Rx as that's the only way it can work with both DX6 and DX7. The BCX2 Tx is a DSM2 and I have not heard if it implements the fallback to DSM to make it work with AR6000s. If it does then it should work with this device too.

The stock DX6 gets about 3hrs from a charge. That's one heavy night or two or three average nights on the sim for me.

The stock DX7 talking to a DSM Rx draws about 360mA which means about 4hr from a charge. Interestingly, talking to a DSM2 Tx it only draws about 180mA giving closer to 7hrs runtime.

In both cases, running in trainer mode with the RF section disabled they draw much less. I know I used to get about 6hrs sim time on my DX6 before doing the voltage reg mod, never timed it after that, just lots of hours. :)
