Hi all, I am new to heli's and have just finished building a Raptor 50 se, but I fear that I may have bought the wrong Tx. I originally had it in mind to buy a T-rex 450, but after reading about the pro's and con's of learning with the bigger Raptor well.. um... here I am? So my question: Is the DX6 good enough to use with the Raptor? :dontknow
Oh I should add that I have 3x S9252's, 1x HS65MG (throttle) and the 401 S9254 combo on the tail. Power is from a Sanyo 2000mAh pack.
Thanks

the DX6 is rated as a 'Parkflyer' radio so small fields. It doesns't have the range of the DX7.

That being said, it's not like you're going to fly your raptor 1000 feet or more away from you, so it shouldn't be a problem. what does your local R/C field say about this issue.

I have read of people doing it, but...

It's not range, but rather continuity of signal that is apparently the problem. The AR6000 receiver doesn't coexist well with large chunks of metal such as a nitro engine. The AR7000 overcomes this with it's two separated receivers.

Ok Thanks for the replies, glucoseboy, rotary65.
After my post, I did some searching and found a good deal on the DX7 that I couldn't refuse. rotary65, I had read somewhere about the continuity problems ,but wasn't sure, and I couldn't find the original post again. Anyway I decided that the DX7 was the way to go. The nearest club is 150ks away and I don't know what there policies are concerning the DX's. I will get in touch with them as I want to find out what the rules are and also I'd like someone to check my setup for me.
thanks again

pwham,

If you bought it in Oz this should not be a problem.

If you bought your DX7 outside Oz then the problem you are going to have is that it will not have an Oz C-tick sticker, which says that it meets oz com specs. This is necessary to meet MAAA rules in Oz.

In this case you will need to send it to modelflight in oz to get it certified. This will cost you $20 plus postage, plus your postage to send it to them, or ~$40 total.

If you show up at a MAAA field without this sticker, you will probably not be allowed to fly.

I know cause I had to go though this recently!

Cheers,

Tom C
