Well I am very close to getting kit # 46 up in the air!! Or so I thought..... I just got the Actro 24-4 motor from the FedEx man just a few hours ago. I went to install it and found that the pinion hole size is larger than the shaft on the motor! :arggg: I suspect the shaft is 5mm and the pinion is 8mm. I haven't measured it accuratly yet so that's just a guess, but it certainly doesn't fit. Does anyone know if there are different pinion sizes for different motors? This is the 9.6 to 1 ratio. I will probably just turn a spacer for now to get into the air this week but would like to get the correct pinion (if there is one available) so it is 'right'. Thanks to all for any info!

Ok, so I did a little digging on the MA website and it shows on the Razor parts listings page that pulleys from 13t - 19t have a 5mm bore and the 20t - 44t pinions have a 6mm bore. Perhaps the Actro can be had with either shaft size :dontknow . Hmmm, not sure what to do, guess I'll get to machining my own sleeve so I can get this machine in the air! To bad we are gettin' freezing rain and temps around 10 degrees tomorrow. Better get my Radio Warm glove out for a try :D

hey , heres the trick with our proto Razors , on the tail slider , theres a brass sleave inside it , its 5mm ID and 6 mm OD , this will insert inside the pinion , also , drill a hole in the brass tube for the set screw to set on the steal motor shaft, well I hope you have a extra

Misskimo, Thanks for the idea! So simple but works. I was looking around the garage to see if I had anything laying around and I had an old TV antenea laying around and one the sleeves that it was made of is a perfect fit! I think I'll get a few of those sleeves you mentioned though since the motor doesn't seem to come in a 6mm shaft (I haven't found one yet) and the pinion doesn't come with a 5mm hole. Funny MA didn't have this problem when testing or at least mention it somewhere. Oh well, at least it's an easy fix and I'll be flying this weekend so I can't complaign!

Thanks again,

Call and ask Tim or Chris. I'm sure they can fix you up.

I think the standard size is 6 mm when the pully is over 20t ,
