hey , well Im in the process of doing a belt mod to my Ion to get a better Ratio for a 12s, 32-3, high HP, low headspeed to swing 800 mm blades for 3D. I will be heading down to Vegas next motor for some action, I hope to be trying 2 6s 5000s packs as well as some 3850 and 4600s , should be a blast

hey , heres a few pictures
the gearing I chose was 14.4, max RPMs will be 1800 , at 88% gov , 1600 , I have a 90t main , 10t secondary pinion , 36t secondary gear , and a 22t pinion , the mod was made from off the shelf MA parts , I had a few 2 stage motor mounts , cut them down and sandwitched 2 together , cut the channels down and drilled new holes in there , thats about it , I will also install a bearing on the bottom since the 32-3 is whipping some RPMs , that should keep the wobble affect down , YEH!!!!

Wow! I like the looks of that! Is that similar to what MA is coming out with for the ION? Are all your pcs MA parts? Looks like the motor plate is custom. More Details :D

I got to see the real deal Ion-X belt drive conversion and Ion mods today at Clint's. The photos Tony has posted are the proto type original setup. What I saw today is nothing like the photos Tony has posted other than there is a belt and 2 pulleys. Wait until you see the new Ion-X ... WOW!!
Rest assured, the Ion-X is undergoing updates, and I saw the result flying today, and all I can say is I am VERY IMPRESSED. Just wait until you see this new config guys, you will be VERY glad you still have your Ion-X!!

This machine should hopefully debut at the Esprit Model event next weekend, so I would guess there will probably be photos. As soon as MA will let us we will show it off in its full glory. It is really HOT, the most impressive thing about the new gen Ion I guess I can call it for now is how the batterys mount and the new battery options available with the new mounting options.
Trust me, this is a step forward on the Ion, and I am very excited. Time to liquidate a couple of my airframes and get ready for another Ion-X. :)

Will, If you can let it slip is this a completely new ship or a conversion for exsisting machines? Also, will I still be able to use my canopys or is a new one in the works also? I understand if you can't let the cat out of the bag.

No more info now guys...................just need to wait till Esprit. I am looking forward to this weekend. I am flying the CC HV 110 and the Actro 32-3(thanks to Hobby Club for having another one in stock ) and I have a 10s , 11s , and a 12s, setup. Very easy to change and very fast. This is a conversion but changes will be implimented into a new kit later. MA keeps moving forward thanks to a broad pool of info from its pilots and its employees and Tim always does things a certain way which the end result is a MA product.

Well I flew 10s and 11s and 12s all in one hr......................this is fun. The castle controller allows me to save the settings and all I have to do is set it up one time . The 14 allows me to save the matching radio program...............really cool.

It is 2 x FP 6S 3700ma batteries to be precise......diddnīt realize that there might/might not be a major change to the frame including the way the batteries could be mounted in this upgrade at the time when I placed the order for my batteries....well, letīs just wait and see what will come, guess it will be something goooood :D, and guess I might end up with that my big e-heliīs will only be MA heliīs.
