I get pretty hefty flight times too.... even more so using my Neu motor (compared to the scorpion). Running the 3700's @ 2050 with RotorTech 615's, I can get consistent 8 minute flights... if I want to push it hovering, I have gotten 12 minutes! Staying below 70% capacity! More aggressive? 7 minutes @ 2100.

Or, more aggressive and lighter packs... with the 3300's I keep it below 6 minutes.

The Neu is more efficient and more powerful... can’t wait to stick it back under the hood.

JustPlaneChris I think is running 8s and if i recall correctly he was getting 8min Sport Flying on 4000mah. Maybe 5000mah. Dont hold me to that. I couldnt find his post.

Thanks. I did see his post (the only 8s post if I recall correctly). 7min flight times sound good to me. I already have several 4s packs so it was an easy decision for me.

It looks like the motor will be really easy to swap! Maybe I'll just pick up the 4025-550 as well and see what I like best...

Thanks. I did see his post (the only 8s post if I recall correctly). 7min flight times sound good to me. I already have several 4s packs so it was an easy decision for me. I don't think you'll be disappointed! Last weekend I did a "drag racer" takeoff with mine on fresh packs and 2200 rpm (on Mavrikk 620s). Wooooohoo! It's maybe not up to the 12S guys punchout, but it's plenty quick for me! The data logs showed 148 amps and 4400 watts. :smokin:

I can fly 7 minutes at 2200 rpm ( loops, rolls, fast flight, power loops, no "smackdown") and still not hit 80% of the pack capacity. Dial it back to 1900-2000 and you can get 8 minutes of that kind of flying.

I'm using 4S 5000 "Blue" 40c packs, a separate receiver pack (2S 1100mah A123) and my AUW is 8 lbs 5 oz.

I think you will need 4025-630 for 8s if you would like to use some of the standard pinions.

I think you will need 4025-630 for 8s if you would like to use some of the standard pinions.I'm running an 880kv Turnigy motor with a 12T pinion. I've also used a 13T, but the 12 seems better despite the CC software telling me "not enough overhead" at the 2200 setting.

I should have clarified...I'd step up to 12S using the 550kv motor.

Looks like the 12T pinion will be best for my application as well. Thanks for all the info regarding your 8s setup.

http://www.helifreak.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=253798&d=1316104077i just bought a fusion 50 off the for sale thread. was wondering what kinda flight times to expect out of this:

Servo - Outrage BL 9180 HV
Outrage BL 9188 HV
Motor - X-Era 4025/3y-560 (Long shaft)
ESC - YGE 90HV+ProgCard II
Western Robotics Hercules Super BEC 14S 10A/15A Peak
Blade - SWE 630mm

i will be flying 12s useing 2 turnigy nano tech 6s 3300 mah packs. anyone running anything close to this could gimmie some feedback and it would be greatly appriciated.

It depends. You could get from 4 - 6 1/2 minutes. Running what I have in my signature using 3300 Gens Ace @ around 2100-2200 HS I fly 5min using 60% of the mah's flying light 3D being heavy on the sticks. So I could get 6 min easy or a little more. I think your motor is a little more power hungry so maybe a little less time. Changing my style to sport sometimes I only put pack 50% of the mah's. So I could push the 7 minute mark. After 5 min though I am content and it is easier on the batteries.

I am not using the Gov yet as it wasnt working for me. Being governed will use a little more mah;s.

Sounds about right. I get 8 minutes on 4000mah packs... but I cut it off at 7:00 since 8 gets to 20-25% and I like to go easy on my packs and end closer to 30-35%.

On a similar setup using Turnigy 3Ah packs (rx pack instead of BEC) I fly 9min and that leaves my packs at 3.8-3.9V per cell but I don't do 3D just circuits, loops, stall turns, etc.

Cant wait to get this together & in the air :bacon:baconMost Jive users use the internal BEC... even in 700s since it is 15A. And I have a similar setup and with 4000mah packs and it doesn't feel heavy at ALL (loads of power) and I get 7 minute flights. Be sure to use gov mode 11.

The only thing about the Jive BEC here is the voltage. If you want to get the full performance of your HV servos then the Jive BEC is probably not the route (can only go to 6V) so a 2s Lipo is probably the way ahead. If you are not so fussed about going over 6v then the Jive BEC definitely is the one.

Not for sure but I don't think so depending on if skookum have enough channels or if it is telemetry friendly that I don't know. You may half to run spectrum 8 as a piggy back.

PS may half to ask Skookum.

Be blessed

I can't help really... best to ask in the skookum forum I think. Since all helis basically wire up the same but the skookum is the variable here.

Hello all! I am building another Fusion 50 FBL :bacon and thought I would update my setup.

Outrage Fusion 50 FBL Kit (newest kit that still has white gears :( )
Outrage 4125-560kv 14T Pinion
CC ICE2 120HV (gov mode)
CC BEC PRO V2 on 6S
MKS DS1009S Cyclic Servos @6V
Savox SH-1290MG Tail Servo @6V
BeastX V3 FBL Controller
Spektrum AR6210 w/ SAT
Mavrikk G5 WC 600mm FBL Mains
KBDD 96mm Extreme Tail - Orange

Running 12S and target Head Speed is 2300rpm.

I am hoping to have it together for this weekend. Unfortunately the weather here in central Ohio is slipping fast, but I am not afraid to fly as long as the windchill isn't below 0.

What size packs are you running?

What size packs are you running?

I have a couple of flight packs, I am running a set of 3700s and a set of 4200s. I ran these exact batteries on my last fusion no worries. I am a Sport/ VERY LIGHT 3D pilot, so I go for more flight time over fast and light.

Ok guys here it is.
I have decided that this WILL be my next heli :bacon I just want you guys to look over my setup first.

Here is what I am thinking,

The fusion 50 fbl combo with torq servos (hope to run at 8.4V),
Castle HV80/Jive 80+HV/Hobbywing Flyfun 100AHV
Outrage Motor
Beast X
Castle BEC Pro
Youngblood 625 V2 mains
KBDD tail blades
Flightpower 3200's

This is my dream combo, I may have to make some concessions because its going to cost a bunch!
If anyone knows of a place that has good deals on the Jive or BeastX please let me know (the jive needs to be on sale somewhere for me to get it, 220$ extra is a lot of money)
If the hobbywing HV is a good esc, and it seems to be on par with the castle I will probably get that, I would like to get the jive but 300$ less? Seems like a great deal if it is a good as everyone says.

My only other concern is if the BEC Pro will be able to supply the high voltage to the servos, I think it should be able to.
Please let me know what you think of this setup and definitely if you know of any deals out there.
Right now I have my fingers crossed for thanksgiving sales (20% off at Helidirect again this year?)

Thank you for taking the time to read this,
Seb

220$ extra is a lot of moneyWell.. you won't need an external BEC... you will get the best governor.. and if it does save you from just one crash... you come out ahead. But your setup looks to be really nice.

Thanks, I guess I'm just dragging you everywhere today huh?
I looked at the specs for the Jive BEC output and it will only output 6v while the BEC Pro will be able to deliver the full 8.4 that the servos will need to work best.
I think since I am splurging on nice servos the jive is probably out of my price range, that extra 300 looks big when it is in my cart.

I know the hobbywing cannot be on the same level as the jive but the reviews have been positive and the governor seems to be decent. People say its the same level as the Castle speed controls
