Hi all, well it had to happen, flying my CX2 around the house. After several minor tip stikes on furniture etc I've got an inch long split from the tip of a lower main blade. Its in the middle of the chord extending from tip to root direction (but only for an inch).

If I fly it like this I know the stresses will lengthen the split instantly.
I don't have spare blades at present and it will take me a couple of weeks to get them shipped from the States.
I have glued the split with thin CA (which I don't trust to hold up).

I want a temporary fix that will last a few flights until my spares arrive.
I thought about wrapping a layer of masking tape about 1/2 inch wide, around the blade tip and soaking it with CA (and doing the same to the opposing good blade to retain balance).

Does this sound like a sensible/feasible repair. Or does anyone know of an alternative fix that will last a few flights ok.

Appreciate any advice, cheers, Rick

I've used clear packing/mailing tape and it works real well. Didn't use any CA with the tape, never came apart. You have the right idea for balancing the other blade.

Something you might consider. Get a roll of iron on covering (idealy, Monokote). Plenty for a dozen sets or so in one roll. Strip old covering, CA the splits/cracks, sand smooth and clean up tips (if dinged up) symmetrical like, recover, reinstall the mount plates and balance. Makes a stronger/better than new blade. I don't fly blades with the covering that comes with them new. I strip, recover and balance them before using. Any color you want, easy to get second and third life out of each set. Avoid disturbing the weights at the tips. You can plainly see weights with the covering removed. FWIW

The cx2 only needs some CA to hold it together, you should be fine to fly as is. The monocote etc is for the wooden blades that go on the CP. CX2 blades dont go anywhere near as fast as a CP does so they dont have near the stresses, CA will be fine.

My LHS doesn't have any blades and the ones I have blades got a couple dings well and small cracks on them. Can i just use tape (transparent packing tape or electricial tape) and tape them up? I'll try to balance them out as best as possible.
