I have about 20 flights on my shogun now and love it. This little thing is fun. One thing i did notice is that it seems to want to go up and down alot on its own in a hover. same with forward / backwards, left / right aeleron in hover. it needs a constant correcting on my part to keep it steady. Is this normal? Is it due to the stock foam blades, paddles or do i have something set up wrong?

I had the same experience vinrx7. Very touchy in the middle range, around hover. There must be a way to adjust it with the transmitter to calm it down.... but not sure.
I think I will like mine, I had a few problems during my first flight and need to replace my tail gears.... (set it down in the grass with out going to throttle hold).

yeah, i learned my lesson about take offs and landings on grass. I keep in on the pavement from now on or place a piece of cardboard on the grass.

It's a micro, they're twitchy. But it could also be due to the servos you are using and/or the linkages you have. Are you using Z bends?

no Z bends, just dubro micro connectors. Now i dont think its anything wrong with the bird cause i flew outside in little wind today and i must say this hovered exactly like my 30. PERFECT! with a good breeze i end up kinda chasing it back and forth a bit to keep it in one spot.

It is all in the way you have your pitch and throtle curves set up. Remember these little birds seem to like high rpm and low pitch.
My pitch curves (from memory, don't hold me to it) are:
normal mode:
40-60-70-80-90 (ruffly)
Estimate pitch to be +6 at top and around -5 bottom
Can't recall my throttle settings right now.

I just played around with my pitch & throddle curves, with a real knowedgable electric heli pilot "Redfive" . His fine tuning made a big difference in the smoothness & performance with my Shogun & Trex.
this will allow you to transition from hover to FF even that much smoother.
This is a must for changing modes.
I am just learing this next step, and it was very difficult to understand as a new heli pilot, and will only come though proper tutalage, and trial & error.
