If Spektrum gets here first, that's the one I'm going to get, plus one more receiver to boot. The XPS system sounds promising, but that's all it's been, promises.
Somebody at the Vegas Fun Fly said to me this was coming this month, but I didn't really give it any credence. I guess that'll learn me....:)

WOW $299........ for a few bucks more you can get a DX7....
Seems this is a little over priced. I am assuming that is MSRP and not street cost?
I hope they sell the module alone as I dont need 9 channels and an AR70o0 will do just fine.

Well it's early days (even before the official announcement!). If the market behaves the same as for the DX7 we can expect some stores to offer pre-order discounts but the street price will be close to list price for the early adopters and so long as demand exceeds supply. Even now DX7s are selling in the US for only about 10% below the original $349. I wouldn't bet on the street price for these modules being better than 10% off MSRP in under 6 months after the actual release to sale. Just my opinion, time will tell. BTW - I will stick my neck out and predict a 1 Apr release date for XPS

OK, perhaps I was wrong. Was the DX7 MSRP $499 but the opening real price $349 ? if so then if the same 30% margin applies to these modules then that will indeed make them more competitive with the XPS MSRP.

I am also VERY interested in the Spektrum module for the 14. I am not sure but it looks like it will allow for your 14 to be 1024/2048 and also SS with a module change? Very cool!! Now I just need to send mine in to get the screen fixed and I got no backup radio. :DOH

yeah, that would be VERY cool!! One of the main reasons I got this 14MZ (besides all the nice features) is to buddy box people but I would also like to be able to use SS personally... let's see what happens
Cheers,
Richard

Thanks, I caught your post in the Main Discussion area. I will give futaba a little more time (I really like FHSS) but it looks like we aont be put out to pasture after all.

Yes..that part does suck...I have only ever used 7 ch.
From what I have read...you can only get 8 ch. out of Futaba PPM?

Can't wait to pick up the Spektrum MZ module and a few AR9000s.
Looks like my mz may be coming out of retirement this season after all :).
Never thought I'd see a Spektrum/Horizon product designed for Futaba - can't thank them enough.

Don't get me wrong I am a major Futaba fan but I think we all owe Paul and Horizon Hobbies for making sure we don't get left out in the cold. I was really shoked Horizon is willing to distribute anything for thier competitors radio.
If nothing else, they have forced Futaba's hand in making a module available.

I checked this nomadio and I'm not convinced that this is a fair comparison.
Nomadio seems exclusively car radios. I don't drive cars but as far as I know car radios (1) have only 4 instead of 10-14 channels (2) need only to operate at small range (3) consequences with radio failures are smaller (car crashes into tree, not into public)

You are correct that Nomadio only currently have car radios for sale. However they announced a couple of months ago their intention to release a 7-9ch "sport" air radio and 12-16ch colour-touchscreen-mp3-do-it-all deluxe air radio by the end of the year. There is a forum discussing the features of the two radios on the Nomadio website but you have to register (it's free) to see it. So far there are no hard details about the Tx design or features nor any concrete evidence that they are making progress. Nomadio expect their deluxe radio to be price competitive with current 9ch units but in terms of features and performance, to out class anything currently available. Ambitious, that's for sure. Time will tell.

If the build quality/feel is like the sensor I would rather stay with Futaba and FM
