Question about using Tango 45-8 in Razor

What's the actual max RPM of this motor? There is no info from Kontronik's website.

Several online retailers state this motor has max RPM of 25,000 and KV is 800rpm/V. If using 10s Lipo(37V), I am getting rpm of 29,600. At full charge(42V), it's 33,600. I am afraid it will be fried.

If I remember correctly, it seems that after 30,000 the tangos start to drop off on the curve. 28,000 to 30,000 I recall was the "sweet spot"

Clint's has held up for probably 600+ maybe 1K plus flights.

I heard he said he could tell a little difference between his and Teeroy's new Razor with 45-08.

Kontronik's website only shows this motor can use for up to 30s ni-cd, So the 25k max rpm is definitely not accurate, It might be 35k. What do you think?

From Kontronik's support:

"since a redesign of the rotor about 3years back this have been up'ted some to 30k."


10s will be ok. 11s is a no-no. They were rated at 25,000 rpm but since the update 10s on this motor has been used in many applications without problems.

I have been flying a 3DMP with a Tango 45-07 for three years now same motor, never had a bit of trouble with it. All in 10s geared at 11 to 1, works very well. I am sure you will be good to go ;)

We have a lot of flights with the Tango 45-08 on 10S with no issues.

It is a shame that Kontronik could not open up the airgap and Kevlar Wrap the rotor in the Tango line. That was their biggest problem was slingin magnets off the rotor. They used an inferior glue to bond the Mags on a batch a few years ago and they would sling the magnets off the rotor at the most inconvenient time(Ask me how I know this :? ). Generally if you get a good one burnt in without any problems you have a good one forever..

45-08 at 100% with the new 1P 10s will give about 30500 RPMs , 45-07 , KV 740 , to get close to the sweet spot 30000 , 11S , 45-06 , 29000 rpms on 12s , 45-10 , its sweet spot for close to 30000 also is a 7s pack which is actually 28500

I use it on my TREX-600 on 10S, which gives close to 30K, and with no problems so far. The motor runs very "cold".
